Here is the list of the ingredients.L. rhamnosus PBO1L. gasseri EN-153471 (EB01)Lactitol Monohydrate, Maiza starch Gelatine, Xanthan Gum, Glucose (anhyydrous), Magnesium, Stearte, Titantium dioxide (e171), Sucrose, Ascorbate and Citrates. **Q: What is the full ingredients list? I see the 2 probiotic strains, but what else is in there? Inactives?** A: I can't tell you that because I don't have any PurFem right now, so I can't check the packaging. I can tell you it is pretty basic, though. I don't think there is much besides the two strains of probiotic, perhaps there is a little lactose. I used to get a similar product when I lived in Denmark and I remember it had lactose. PurFem does have a website, though, and you can send them a question. If you are very concerned about the other ingredients you could write to them. **Q: Do the capsules completely dissolve inside? Or do they have to be removed each day?** A: They take a few hours to dissolve. You are supposed to insert them at night so they can be dissolved in the morning. **Q: what is the expiration date?** A: I think it is about 6 months. I bought my last supply last spring in it is just expiring in November. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great product - works exceptionally well *by A***3 on January 8, 2016* These work very well to counteract the "side effects" of antibiotics. They contain (and only contain) Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Lactobacillus gasseri, which are specific probiotics to replace/populate the "good" bacteria normally present in the vagina. As with other viewers, I tried oral probiotics and other remedies, but only THIS worked. (Oral probiotics do not all contain the right lactobacillus, so inserting regular acidophilus capsules do not "do" anything.) I used this product first to treat a yeast infection and, a few months later, to proactively prevent the effects of a long-term antibiotic regimen. The only downside is the cost, which is super expensive. But, they WORK. As for the reviewer who wrote, "A product with dangerous ingredients. It deserves no stars. Cancer causing ingredients", ...well, they must have been looking at another product. ie. Purfem contains only two strains of lactobacillus, one of which (L. rhamnosus) is currently the world's most studied probiotic bacterium. As for this product being from milk, it is not relevant in most cases. eg. Lactose intolerance is the inability to digest lactose, and these are suppositories, which are not ingested or digested. Bottom line…. Purfem works wonderfully for yeast infections and BV (and also UTI). ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Used if for BV.... WORKED WONDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *by A***E on January 3, 2017* I read a few websites, mainly holistic (which were a bit out there for me. I mean I like all natural, but some went a bit too far. I'm not opposed to modern medicine, you know, because... Science) when I came across a UK site that recommended this product as a treatment used in Europe for Bacteria Vaginosis (BV) infections.Anyway, I had a series of BV infections that would not clear up. After taking a ridiculously strong antibiotic for the second time, and it doing nothing I ran back to my doctor. My doctor (a new one for me and I'm not sure if I'm going back to her, ever again, and gave me more evidence as to the reason why I usually seek out midwives instead of OB GYN's) insisted that the odor was not due to a BV infection and could be due to the heat or it's just my odor. Now, I've been down this road before in the past where I get flare ups for reasons unknown and I know what it smells like when I have BV, so I went on the hunt for some alternative since I knew my doctor would be of no help. So like I said, I came across a UK site and it said to use this for the treatment of BV as well as to restore your PH balance after the dreaded monthly.SO...I said what the hell do I have to lose. I ordered it, had it shipped the same day, followed the directions and instantly noticed the difference by morning. The dissolution of the capsule felt a bit weird but I haven't had a reoccurrence since. It's now January and this was August. The website I found recommended the following course of treatment:- use PurFem after a round of antibiotics if you have BV and monthly after your menstrual cycle to restore your ph balanceI didn't do that. I merely used it about 2 months later after a round of antibiotics and like I said, no issues since and I will most definitely order this again if I am hit with another round of BV. ### ⭐ I ended up going to the doctor and was prescribed Flagyl and now I am fine. I am taking a probiotic by mouth to ... *by C***A on September 25, 2015* Once you obtain this in the mail, the directions will tell you to first go to the doctor to get medication to eradicate the BV and then use this. Other reviews claimed to use this as means to substitute a doctor's prescription. I tried it without going to the doctor first to see if the claim was true and it did not help me personally. I ended up going to the doctor and was prescribed Flagyl and now I am fine.
