A new BE350G is only 11$ more than the replacement battery; is replacing worth it?

TLDR; Replacing the battery is always worth it in terms of being better for the environment. In this case, replacing it with a cheaper alternative (see below explanation) is best, especially since it's 2022 and the model has been discontinued. _____ Do thorough research and purchase another brand of battery. All APC batteries are re-stickered, meaning that they buy the battery from a wholesale battery supplier, do quality testing to make sure they aren't bad somehow, then pop their own sticker on them and put them into their devices, and/or re-sell them. You can just as well find another brand, make sure it has great reviews online and is compatible with your own UPS (some of them can fit tight or won't fit well) and buy that, saving 40-50% off the cost of the "official" APC branded battery. You're essentially paying a markup for a sticker that promises quality testing and keeps the warranty in check for these batteries and who knows if they test every single one of them (I doubt it, but who knows). Keep in mind that all warranties, both for the UPS itself as well as other implied (equipment damage, etc) are void if/when you don't use APC batteries, however.

Do i need special software for this to work? i would just like to use for home pc.

I was given this ups and it beeped non stop when I plugged it in. I just changed the battery and it works perfectly. No special software is needed. When I changed the battery, I just plugged it in.
