The fourth volume in the wonderfully sweet Heartstopper series, featuring gorgeous two-color artwork. Now streaming on Netflix! Charlie and Nick's relationship has been going really well, and Charlie thinks he's ready to say those three little words: I love you. Nick feels the same way, but he's got a lot on his mind -- especially the thought of coming out to his dad and the fact that Charlie might have an eating disorder. As a new school year begins, Charlie and Nick will have to learn what love really means. Review: Queer Joy via Friendship & Romance but Mental Health is Important & a Journey - “Heartstopper Volume 4” by Alice Oseman is still full of queer joy, friendship, & romance, but also a bit more focused on mental health & recovery. It’s very careful in how it approaches sensitive topics, like anorexia, self-harm, disordered eating, & recovery. These could be triggering topics, but I think Alice generally does a good job at presenting them in a way without sensationalizing or making them seem unsolvable or easily solvable. It’s definitely a volume that makes one think & has made me personally think I need to do more (& maybe even ask for help 😬) myself. But also. It’s still sweet. & romantic. & shows that we all need lots of people & relationships in our lives (not just the romantic kind). I think especially given the last few years, this is more important than ever to read. Also, also. It’s just a truly beautiful series. Please pick it up (or watch the show too, as it’s the best of adaptions, Oseman was very involved wrote for it too)! I can’t express how much I would recommend this series for EVERYONE. Now I just have to wait for Volume 5. Plus get “Solitaire” & it’s two spin-off novellas “This Winter” & “Nick & Charlie,” which touch on the main couple (or feature them) but also flesh out Tori (best big sister, full of big sister magic) one of my favorite secondary characters. Also “Radio Silence” which takes place a bit after & feature Aled, another secondary friend character. Also, also, also… two of the teachers are my favorite & I love that there’s a reminder than one can find love at any age (especially for those of us who missed out on youthful love). Read it! Watch it! Fall in love! Review: excellent - Maybe my favorite novel in this series thus far. The complexity of mental health (& other) illnesses are a major subject. The love between Charlie and Nick grows. Although these graphic novels are generally for YA readers, I by no means fit in that category! Even so, Alice Oseman’s ability to combine these young teens’ growing maturity is presented so well, and without judgement or a hidden agenda. I wonder how I would have reacted to this series if I had read it in my teens (decades ago). Regardless, I am glad to be reading it now.

A Captivating Chapter in Charlie and Nick's Journey!
Heartstopper Volume 4 continues to enchant readers with the heartwarming and beautifully crafted story of Charlie and Nick's evolving relationship. As a fan of the series, I found this installment to be a compelling and emotional continuation of their journey. Alice Oseman's storytelling prowess shines once again, seamlessly weaving together moments of joy, vulnerability, and growth. The characters feel authentic, and their struggles and triumphs resonate with a universal charm that keeps readers emotionally invested. The artwork by Oseman complements the narrative impeccably, capturing the subtleties of expressions and emotions. The visual storytelling adds a layer of depth to the already engaging plot, making it a truly immersive experience. Volume 4 delves deeper into the complexities of self-discovery, friendship, and love, showcasing Oseman's ability to tackle sensitive topics with grace and authenticity. The pacing is spot-on, allowing readers to savor each moment while eagerly anticipating what comes next. Whether you're a longtime fan of Heartstopper or new to the series, Volume 4 is a delightful addition that delivers on its promise of warmth and relatability. It leaves readers eagerly anticipating the next chapter in Charlie and Nick's journey. Five stars for another captivating installment that tugs at the heartstrings!

Great but wrong edition
I like the story but I'm not gonna comment on it cuz it's subjective, but the actual book itself came in good condition (a little dent on the top but I think that was cuz of the shipping) but Idk if it was my bad for not looking paying enough attention while buying it or what but I accidently got the older edition while my other 3 are the newer ones. It's shorter, doesn't have the contents page in the beginning and is colored with blue. All that is fine but the like the newer ones better and I want it to match on my shelf so after I read it I'll probably donate it or trade it for the newer one or something.

Simply a thank you.
Doubt you ever have a chance to sit and read all the reviews, but I had to write one even so. I just wanted to say thank you, Alice. I admit that my HS experience wasn’t nearly as bad as Charlie’s, but as someone who has battled (and will always with some of these) severe bipolar depression, intense anxiety, eating disorders and a teenage cancer survivor, all the while trying to accept being gay, these books and the Netflix series have been a godsend. They make the 16-year-old who went to the kitchen table that one night in August to tell my mom I am gay. She took it…well. This was in 2000. Things have, well they were, become better and acceptance is more widely the norm (ish …except in some stupid states like FL), yet I cannot read these books/watch the series without thanking you profusely for letting me, and the whole community, feel that we are normal. I smiled ear-to-ear the whole time, genuinely, reading these books and watching the series. I cried in nearly just as much such happy tears, I didn’t know I could since finding my partner. So thank you, again, Alice. Although, I don’t think all the thank you’s in the world will ever be justice for what you’ve given to me (and I dare say, us). Cannot wait for Vol 5; it will be a bittersweet time indeed.

Wow, this was so much more than I expected.
Be mindful of the various trigger warnings, but know that they are topics to be approached with care and respect. Seeing Charlie’s mental health journey was terrific. Not only the art style, but the writing style too. Seeing through Nick’s eyes was an excellent choice. I'm super sad that Vol 5 will be the final book, but I'm so excited for it.
