The absolute best DEFROST function I have ever used! It worked on smoked salmon. Would buy again.
this 8-in-1 microwave is amazing. So far I've used the defrost, microwave, combi, and air fry function. I think the key with this microwave is to actually read and use the instruction manual if you want it to work well and save the trial and error time (and save your food in the process). In short, all the functions work amazing, defrost is by far the winner of it all for me. It defrosted smoked salmon without cooking it. Forever a fan just for that. Here are my notes: 1. Microwave - I used the "beverage" function to heat up some coffee. It's the Auto 1 I think (check the manual!) it heated it up nice and hot, it didn't get cold quick, and I was very pleased. I really only use the microwave for reheating (not cooking), so this was perfect. 5 stars on this front. 2. Combi - this was a combo grill/micro function for some hot dogs. I couldn't find a good guide in the rush of my son requesting hot dogs like he hadn't eaten anything in the past 6 years of his life, but I did a combi preset, had to do it twice, and while they came out good, almost like on the stove top, I think they could have been better--they lacked a little cooking in the center. I'll have to do some homework on the best hot dog function to use before my next request. 3. Airfry - I cut up some red potatoes (small if you ask me), dressed them with EVOO, salt, paprika and thyme and used the air fryer at 350 F for 30 mins. I MUST DISCLOSE that I have NEVER used an airfryer. Never. I saw it as a frivolous appliance that takes up too much space. Enter this micro. This is why I got the micro in the first place. Back to the potatoes, they could have been cooked a little more for my liking, perhaps a higher temp, but my husband thought they were amazing. Again, I have never air fryed, so probably some novice user error on my end. 5 stars for air frying! 4. Defrost. This is where this microwave SHINES like none other. I defrosted smoked salmon. Have you ever done that before????? the edges are ALWAYS *cooked* and I can't stand that. It defrosted perfectly. Not cooked. Not at all. DEFROSTED as if I'd left it out on the counter to defrost. My God. Chicken? Defrosted like a CHARM. Not cooked! not hot! DEFROSTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would give this 10,000 stars just for defrosting because I ALWAYS forget to take food out to defrost.

feeling sad
I actually loved this when I got it in January 2022 but now its like its haunted, acting weird starts on its own, adds time when i am using it, and sometimes the pad to enter functions doesn't work unless I slam the door a few times I would think it would of lasted more the 4.5 years so I keep it unplugged

DO NOT BUY! DOES NOT LAST!
DO NOT BUY! At first, this microwave worked as you would expect. I liked the feature of the turn dial rather than punching in a time. However, I've owned this for a couple years or so now and I'm having the same problems that many others are reporting. The microwave dial intermittently does not work. Sometimes it will not cancel the cycle and will add time automatically. What really did it for me was that it kicked on at about 10pm one night on its own. I heard some beeping from bed and went out there to see the microwave on and adding more and more time to itself. It apparently was on for some time because it was extremely hot. I spoke with Toshiba directly and after providing them all the information they requested, as if they actually cared, they simply said it was past the warranty period. They provided a couple areas I could have it fixed, but it would be at my own cost. The cost to repair would be more than buying a new one. Since then it has continued to act up and I decided to trash it before my house burned to the ground. I wish I looked into the reviews better before buying. I understand sometimes you get a faulty product, but the fact that Toshiba would not see that this is an issue many have had and attempt to make things right, is horrible. I will never buy a Toshiba product again.

Adequate, not Impressive
(UPDATE Broil/Grill function) Adequate, not Impressive. Outer dimensions pretty much standard, but interior oven is very big. And heavy. Interior is metallic like a toaster oven, not a white enameled finish like a microwave oven. - MICROWAVE function is good - can calibrate slow and sensitive cooking times with the power levels. 100% Power is pretty strong. I have only used 80% or 90% so far. - AIR-FRY / BAKE function - not yet impressed, Takes as much time to preheat this tabletop appliance as it does for the oven in a stand alone range. Top surface of this model gets very hot - same as a toaster oven would get, so you cannot set or store anything directly on top of this appliance. Need to buy a microwave rack that has a shelf that hovers 2-3 inches above the top of the oven. - NO ALERT BEEP when Preheat has reached its designated temperature. Took 12 minutes to reach 300-degrees and I had to use a kitchen timer to check on the temperature display every 3 minutes. - BROIL/GRILL function. Customer Service Rep says overhead heating element does not turn Red when broil temperature has been met. Took 10 full minutes to turn a single slice of white supermarket bread medium brown. This is much slower than my toaster oven. -MUST BE MINDFUL of the type of material going into the oven. I can see a lot of people accidentally inserting paper, plastic, or other flammable material for the Broil, Bake, or Air Fry function a result of the habitually shoving disposable containers into a microwave. - USER MANUAL is goofy. It reads "Enter correct time of day" throughout. What the book really means is "Enter cooking time (seconds or minutes)" How this misleading wording got past Toshiba's translation dept is inexplicable. - A Push-button to open door, instead of having to yank it out/push in (and shake whole appliance) would have been a better design

I like this microwave.
I needed to get a new microwave our old one was almost a decade old and the inside was starting to rust out. I needed something that I could mute as I am on night shift while the rest of the house works days. I shopped around locally because I didn't want the hassle of having to try and return a microwave to Amazon if it was junk, unfortunately I couldn't find any microwaves carried by any retailers in my area that had the mute function I wanted and many of them were just as expensive as this microwave. I was hesitant to pull the trigger on this product because of the reviews. There's a lot of *good* reviews on here but it's the bad ones I keep an eye out for, you cannot trust most of the reviews on this website anymore and its the overly critical reviews that I trust to be honest. Some folks were complaining this unit felt cheap and made of low quality parts. I disagree. This microwave is smaller than the one I used to own but somehow manages to be heavier than the larger microwave I had. The entire unit feels like it's built solidly, it has a stainless steel finish on the inside, so it's easy to clean. And best of all it has the mute function I wanted. As a bonus due to it's nature as a convection microwave I have noticed that it warms food in a slightly different manner, like to the point even microwave meals taste a little different and I have noticed that things like bowls and containers are less hot on the outside than I'd expect them to be. I'm glad I bought this unit, it seems reliable. Keep in mind there's a bit of a learning curve to using this microwave, you don't want to accidently engage it's grilling functions while you got plastic in there.

Could have been great...
The poblems that I have with this microwave: 1. Door is kind of loud but not as loud as some microwaves. The metal panel on the top and sides shakes loudly after you open / close the door unless you put weight on it. 2. You can't just twist the dial to set the microwave timer; first you have to press the Power button, select the power level, then dial in the time. Alternatively, you can spam +30 seconds until you get to your desired time. Twisting the dial without pressing anything instead shows preset menu options that you are unlikely to use very much. Update: I discovered that if you start by spinning the dial counter-clockwise, it lets you put in the microwave time immediately. 3. You can't add / subtract time while it is running with the dial, you can only press +30 seconds. 4. You can't adjust the power level while it is running. This is normal, but there are some microwaves that let you do this. This should be a common feature. The microwave does not have an inverter, which is kind of a gimmick anyway. 5. When you are preheating the oven, it doesn't show the current temperature, it just shows the target temperature and the progress to that temperature. 5. It beeps 5 times when it is done. This is too many beeps. The only saving grace here is that the beeps stop after you open the door. You can also mute all beeps, which is what we have done. I wish there was an option to reduce the number of beeps (I believe Kitchen Aid Microwaves let you do this.) 6. No option for reminder beeps for after the food is done, and the screen doesn't let you know the food is done for more than a few seconds. 7. Dial button is not reliable, it won't always register presses. You also can't spam +30 seconds really fast. I read that the dial button can get gunked up over time leading to the microwave starting on its own, or randomly adding more time. The dial itself doesn't feel very satisfying. It kind of ratchets instead of spinning smoothly, and it makes loud clicking noises because of this. 8. A 12" pizza won't fit on the included tray, so you would need to buy a separate pizza tray that is under 13". Make sure its not the flimsy kind with holes.

I could live happily with only this oven!
I use this for two things: (1) plain vanilla microwaving, and (2) air frying. For the first, it's usually one to six punches of the big button/dial, and then go do something else while the oven is heating the food or drink. Rarely, I might want a setting other than Power 10 and/or 30-second increments. It's slightly more trouble to set that, but still easier than any oven I've ever used to do the same thing. I *love* the air fryer! My oven has one, too, but the oven's almost always too big for the small one-person, or at most two-person batches I typically cook. Again, setting the cook time and power is really quick and easy. I usually cook things for about 1/2 to 2/3 the amount time the package specifies for baking them (and that's after warming up the air fryer for only a couple of minutes). The food comes out crispy and tasty. It's also very easy to take a piece out and munch on it while the rest of the batch cooks a bit longer. That's *way* more trouble in a big oven! One thing you'll see that you won't be used to if you have only used conventional microwaves is a bunch of steam coming off the food when you open the oven door. I assume that's because the oven is built with tighter sealing than a pure microwave so that it can work properly as a conventional oven and air fryer. When I have significant steam at the end of a cook, I usually just leave the microwave door open until the next time I come into the kitchen to let the moisture evaporate. That's it! This is one great oven!

First day of use. Giving it a 5 because of features and price.
I've only used it one day but I'm giving it a 5 because of the features, the price, and they have online support for 90 days and I requested a chat to find out how to set the timer on the air fryer and within 5 minutes I had someone to talk too. This product comes with the unit, 2 trays for functions other than the microwave and a manual and an Air Fryer cookbook. The manual is not bad but surprisingly doesn't cover the Air Fryer function that well. There is another manual online on Amazon product guides and documents that apparently covers what the tech I talked to online. The unit is 1 cuft which is the size I had before. It doesn't give you the 12" space above the unit for a cabinet it recommends I have maybe 7 inches but enough of the microwave is free of the cabinets. It is no bigger than my old microwave but with the convection oven junk I will see it has the 3" from the wall they recommend. My kitchen is kind of dark and when I put it on the counter, plugged it in and opened the door the LED light and the stainless steel inside made the outside look dull. It has a lot of presets that are listed inside the door. You use the knob to rotate through them. I might look complicated looking at the codes for the presets but as a senior I think most of it is very intuitive. The manual is not that bad but the using the Air Fryer and using the slow cook feature for dehydrating foods can replace 2 appliances that I bought it for and the manuals could do a better job of making the operation clearer. My old microwave turntable was making noises and when I started looking I saw microwaves with sensors and those with convection ovens or air fryers and I saw this. This frees up counter space and lets me sell my dehydrator and 1 of my air fryers at a garage sale. I know the dehydrator function will probably not be as good as what I have and will require some changes. From the times I see on the Air Fryer they are longer than the ones I have but I can use the space. Like I said I've only used it one day and fixed pork chops in the Air Fryer. I could have spent much more for so many appliances out there but this one does what I want at a price I can afford. If it last half as long as my old microwave it will be bargain.

Multi-function
Have had this microwave for about a month now, bought it to replace my 20-year old Panasonic that had suddenly started taking much longer to heat. Chose this because it also has the convection/air fryer function. The 'regular' oven function works great - heats fast (minutes) and cooks well (chicken wings, roasted garlic) - very useful alternative to using a full oven. The microwave timer is set with a dial, and changes time increments as you pass 60 seconds, 5 min, etc. This is a bit annoying, but only because I am used to entering an exact number on the keypad of my last oven. Still getting used to the individual features and "quirks' of this oven, so I keep the manual close by. Clock very easy to set. Stainless steel interior is easy to clean, but recommend always covering the top of 'messy' food as the ceiling of the oven has an element, making it harder to access for cleaning.

Multifunctional.

Good for small apartments
I actually do love this microwave. I am writing this after using it for almost 2 years. I love the air frying function and I love being able to have less appliances in my tiny apartment. This works well and doesn’t heat up too much on the sides and back which always used to concern me. It is a quiet and powerful thing. I’m glad to have invested in this microwave. It is also easy to clean.

Solid overall performance.
This combo microwave air fryer has held up well. Its a breeze to clean, and its usage is fairly simple as long as you pay attention to the modes you use. The power is considerable, performing better than any previous microwave I have owned. The only time I use the oven now is for baking, or because I don't have enough space in this. I would purchase this item again, but will mention that the knob/button for controlling cook times could be more robust. This will likely be the first thing to have issue on this appliance, so be mindful when you are button mashing if you tend to operate in a rush.
