Because it is thick material I have someone holding the laminated photo paper in place and I do a strong chick pass. If you don't hold well the sheet in place it will come off in one corner. for regular 24 lb inkjet paper I only put in 3 sheets at a time, tried 5 sheets and I had trouble. I did buy two boxes of the spines (in two different sizes) and they both came with the appropriate opening/closing tool for the spines in the box. I'm not sure exactly what "editing" you want to do with this, but this is just the hole punch for binding papers. It's not for actually publishing them. **Q: Are there spines for this machine that can hold 150+ pages? I need to make a large booklet with this but the largest spine I've seen is 85 pages.** A: Google for 3:1 spiral binding - make SURE it's 3:1, that's what size this is. The largest I've found is 60mm / 2 inches, which says it will hold 440 pages.
