The reproductions of the Sunday pages are rendered in full, sumptuous color. The restoration has been painstakingly, lovingly crafted. This is a beautiful book. The featured character who takes up more than half of this first volume is a lesser-known Disney hero named Bucky Bug. Longtime readers of Disney comics may remember the character, but for the last several decades he has been virtually ignored in print. This volume affords the opportunity for the reader to get acquainted or re-acquainted with this character who talks in rhyme and who lives in the town of Junkville with his wife, June Bug. The milestones of Bucky's early life are all here...his birth, the contest to name him, his arrival in Junkville, his meeting with June, his proposal, his marriage. While he is primarily a comics creation, there are two animated Silly Symphony cartoons that take place in and showcase Bucky's world--"Bugs in Love" and "Woodland Cafe." If Bucky is not exactly your cup of tea, there are several other shorter stories available in the collection--most notably "The Wise Little Hen" which like its film counterpart introduces Donald Duck. "The Robber Kitten" is another personal favorite of mine. There is lots of delightful reading ahead whether this is your first introduction to these Disney comic strips or if you are welcoming them again as old friends.This book is a good companion piece to the two-volume Mickey Mouse Sunday collection published by Fantagraphics. When originally printed in Sunday newspapers, the Silly Symphony strip was featured above the Mickey Mouse strip. It would be nice to see a sampling of how these strips looked in relation to each other when they first appeared, but alas, neither the Symphony book nor the Mouse book offers an example. However, even without this, there is much to appreciate in this book. It makes one look forward eagerly to Volume 2. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect *by J***. on Reviewed in the United States on May 16, 2016* Three and a half years worth of sundays, in perfect shape, as usual with the Disney stuff. Most of the book is about stories starring Bucky the bug, and the rest is about adapting theatrically released Silly Symphoniy shorts starring other characters. Som sundays have the kind of "extras" for kids they used to have back then, like cut-outs and the like.
