Is the replayability good? Does it drag with the max amount of players?** A: After playing it 6 times you begin to realize the strategy isn't that deep and the encounters, while fun and novel become predictable and are not connected in any really meaningful way. It's an above average game and a great entry point into more complex games for casual players. I adore the art work and it does at least offer a lot of variety. Basically it gets old. **Q: is this the expanded KS edition that included the wooden components?** A: No wooden components, but all the pieces are very heavy stock cardboard. Well built game and still one of our favorites after over a year of playing it. **Q: The game says ages 13-15. Is there anything that would be inappropriate for elementary school aged children? Is it difficult to master?** A: It is not difficult to master, but the person playing it must like role-playing games / developing story / table top exploration games. I would say it is a fantastic board game enthusiasts that love character development and pick your own adventure. I played through this game few times and I did not see anything inappropriate for elementary children. However with so many game pieces and tokens and rules you really can't give this game to any kid that don't have a short attention span. **Q: How does the gameplay and fun compare to betrayal at house on haunted hill? we enjoy that game and this sounds similar. dice based, stories...** A: Trying to not be too vague, the gameplay is similar yet different. Betrayal uses cards to tell the story or give you pieces and you have no control over your path or decisions to make. Above and Below uses a book which is more like those old 'choose your own adventure' books. Betrayal is more morbid (satanic themes) and A&B is just a happy fantasy world, and although we have fun playing Betrayal, I like A&B for my family (with kids) and Betrayal for a more mature crowd. I think over time (a long time) you will start to see more repetitive stories in A&B yet with Betrayal, there are so many possibilities that you will never repeat the same game twice. There are really 2 parts to it. The "Above" - building your village up, training villagers and assigning tasks to them. And the "Below" - exploring caves, reading paragraph length stories to each other and making choices about what to do. The play is pretty non-competitive and gentle and I have yet to see anything dying or being killed (your villagers are just tired even if they fail their tasks) so this is perfect for playing with children. However there are also plenty of choices to make and lots of nice systems in place to make this enjoyable for adult players as well. Systems are reasonably straightforward and make sense once you get used to them and there are a few videos online to help out if you get confused at all. The only downside for me is that you only discover who has won at the end when you total up the points and the game ends after a certain number of turns, which can make it feel a little bit like you've not completed the story yet. Games do last an hour or so, which is plenty of time though. I bought this to play with my 6 year old son, who doesn't normally deal with losing too well, but he has been absolutely fine with this as the game itself is so enjoyable. Winning or losing feels almost incidental. It's really fun to train people up and then send them out to work (and there are some special villagers which you can only get from "below" which make things a bit more varied) but the undoubted star is the exploration and the "choose your own adventure" stories. I would recommend this game for all ages really.
