Road Top Wireless CarPlay Interface Decoder for Audi

Install was easy, setup took a couple YT videos to nail down the right settings. It works great, I get in the car and it loads Waze and Spotify NP, but not having a touch screen is really detrimental. Controlling the interface with the Audi control knobs it a real PITA. I don't think the AA interface works well without a touchscreen, I have to stop myself from touching the screen every time i want to change something. I would still recommend this to my friends but I would tell them get the one that comes with the larger 8.9" replacement screen.

I was ecstatic as anything for this to arrive, as I bought a stick shift A4 but gave up Carplay for it. This kit is good for even those who become very frustrated with projects with lots of different steps (guilty) Few tips: -you will need the radio key, it is sold on amazon (you can remove them after by pressing the metal tabs on the side of the radio, before pushing it back in) - i have no use for them so i am probably going to return them -take your time -check that everything works before you put everything back in -the best place for the new module in that very very small space is behind the a/c control panel, which you will have to remove (the book gives no instruction) - there are two holes underneath the a/c panel, use something like a small screwdriver to gently pull it out on both sides -disconnect the radio completely, plug in all of the cables to the module, run your antenna & usb cable, then begin plugging in the module first to the a/c panel, find the placement for the module, then connect the audi radio back, test it with it still out, then if all is good, gently push the entire radio assembly back in. this methodology would’ve saved me lots of time having had to go back and find where to fit the module when everything was already connected -feed the wi-fi antenna & usb cable thru the driver side interior paneling, it looks best & is very easy to access -the clips on the radio will not come out without first pushing out the red tabs -with the carplay system, for iphone specifically, make sure your iPhone is connected to the stereo via wi-fi and that wi-fi is enabled, it will connect bluetooth and then not connect to carplay, which confused me until i realized it must also be connected to wi-fi to work review of the product: i love how it is integrated into the factory mmi, the airplay feature, and how customizable things are. some people complained about the awkward navigation thru the mmi system, but mazda and other brands used such methods on their carplay systems from the factory. i find no problem with it. some things i do not like: the wifi antenna tape is very very bad, you will need double sided tape to cleanly affix it to the interior panel, the airplay requires a very good wi-fi connection to work well and the antenna is not very strong, so it needs to be very close.

I am amazed at how simple this install was. I took my time and made sure to get everything just right but it would probably take 15-20 minutes if I had to do it again. In my Photo you can see parts of a cut up card used to mimic the AMI interface key that releases the tabs to pull out the interface. This took me the longest. I wish they would include these in the kit. The function of this device is very seamless with the controls of my car. Everything just works! I don’t understand why there is a WiFi and Bluetooth connection but my wireless CarPlay worked just by connecting to Bluetooth.

This item was purchased about a year ago but has failed to operate reliably. The unit, from almost the beginning would not connect or the screen would freeze on the menu screen or would flash between the menu screen and the map display. This situation occurs about half the time when I use the system. Repeated attempts to connect with the supplier technical support has resulted in either completely ignored requests for service or a denial that the products was provided by them even though I selected to the supplier link provided in the Amazon product page. I've since given up on receiving any support or recourse for this unit but I wanted others to be aware of the product quality and the customer service abilities/willingness of the company selling this item. Judging from the number of review stars, it seems others are experiencing the same except in a few cases. I will say, that when the unit functions, it is nice and works with the existing controls of my Audi Q5.

I have to say I am impressed and delighted. I have 2010 Audi A5 with navigation that needed the maps to be updated every 2-3 years at cost of $450.00, a blue tooth that needed an afer market unit to ran A2dp because my car bt was only for calls. This little unit brought my car infotainment system a decade ahead. It even has wireless carplay/car Auto which is not in my Wife's loaded 2019 Audi Q5 ( her's is wired). The wiring and everything seemed to be of good quality and even though I am not mechanically or electrically inclined I managed to install it with no problems and with only Audi radio Keys and panels removal as the only tools I should write a review 3 months from now and see what will happen because this seems too good to be true. One of the best upgrades I bought from my car.

Exactly what I need! Works perfectly for my 2016 Q5

Have had the unit for several months. Works sometimes, but often glitchy and if you have an issue you have to turn off your car to fully reboot so if you're on the road and have issues it's. pain. Installation wasn't too bad, but instructions are awful and company-provided video was even worse. You think you're watching some hack on Youtube, but that's the company's install video--can be really confusing and it's inadequate. Worst part is if you have an issue support is non-existent. If you try to get support from the seller through the Amazon link, it's just a continuous loop of suggestions with no way to contact the support line. Via the company website it's only WhatsApp and they will always tell you to go the Amazon site. So this device is mid unless you have a problem because you're stuck. I would try it out but if you have any issue return during the return window because they will not help you.

Easy install, took around 20 mins. Works great on my 2013 B8.5 S4. Only problem is sometimes( I will say every 20 use will have 1 'black screen issue') the system will black screen and you need to turn the car off and restart to get the moudule restart. Other than that, no camplain. Some people say there's no sound using this moudle, what i did was connecting the phone using bluetooth with the Audi MMI and basiclly the sound will play directly from Audi MMI instead of carplay moudle at the same time carplay is also working just like any other carplay I've used.

An absolute MUST HAVE! Phenomenal product. Despite the instructions being in broken English and abysmal, if you have the slightest electrical inclination, it’s hard to mess up. Audio quality doesn’t suffer either, and the retention of the OE system with this added CarPlay system is amazing to have. Wireless connection every time without failure, no issues. 10/10 product, very snappy and responsive too. Shipped very quickly and the CarPlay works as intended. It was a bit tricky with installing and having everything fit, but with some videos I was able to put it all together in about 2 hours. The installation instructions are pretty good but they could be a bit more descriptive. The dashboard removal video seemed short - only shows you how to remove but could have included how to put everything back together. I also figured out that you don’t need to have some cables connected like the USB one if you have a reverse camera from factory. That would have been helpful to know, but again figured that out myself. Some people had talked about other CarPlay systems not working great with the B&O sound system but mine was fine. Phone calls also had no issue. I’m hopeful that all of this remains without issue!

Highly recommend for any b8/b8.5 platform. Easy install everything was plug and play.

Love this. Long overdue purchase. Easy to install with various YouTube videos out there. Can do that and fully customize it within an hour. Based on the instructions I was worried that the rear view OEM camera would require extra complicated installations (because I had a manual transmission) but luckily that did not end up being the case. So far only one day in but works flawlessly so far - very happy.
