how can i get this to recognize wd blue 3d nand 2tb internal ssd - sata iii 6gb/s m.2 2280 solid state drive - wds200t2b0b? nothing happens?

What is your chipset on the mother board. The M.2 drives will only be recognized on a 300 or higher series chipset.

Why does this cause my laptop to freeze when plugged into my usb-c port but not the thunderbolt 3 port? (2019 blade stealth)

I had no issues with 3.0 or 2.0

What chip/ controller does el-nv-c01 use?

This enclosure uses JMS583 chipset, which supports USB 3.1 protocol. This is not true Thunderbolt 3 enclosure. It did not work on 2017 IMac 27 for me.
