A steal at $55
Well, if you're like me, the reason you're looking at this product is because you would like to have something that can actually start your car, not just charge your phone. TL;DR version: as long as your vehicle doesn't have a large engine/diesel, it'll start it. I work for AAA, and while they provide jump packs for us, often a Jump-N-Carry 660 or something similar, sometimes they would end up being a little low on juice. So I figured I would buy a jump pack for myself. I did some looking around and at the time this maxmade jump starter was being sold for $55, which I'm assuming was an introductory rate. So I bought one to see how it would do. So far it's done quite well. The largest engine I can remember starting was a 3.8L that was in a dodge caravan that had a drained battery. So for occasionally starting most vehicles, this will do just fine. Though starting vehicles in the winter is more difficult I imagine it'll still be able to start the same ones it can now, though I'll try to update this review during the winter. I've only had a couple issues starting vehicles, and I may not have had the best connection the one time. The other time was when I had already started a few cars in a row with just a minute or so downtime between each, and then it wouldn't start something. Though this could have been due to the battery, or just the fact of using it harder than it was designed to be. One thing to note, there are a lot of videos around with products like this starting a vehicle when they have disconnected the battery to prove that it can start it. While impressive, it is actually more difficult to start a vehicle with a completely drained battery than it is if the battery is not even hooked up. Take this scenario: you have a vehicle that the lights were left on overnight so the battery has no power in it at all, when you connect a jump pack it will in essence start charging the dead battery. The power going into the battery is not available to start the car(power the starter). If you don't disconnect the battery, you may have to wait 30 seconds or a minute while the dead battery gets to a point where it's not sucking the cranking power of your jump pack. This is not a problem that only happens with these small ones, the guys I work with and I have seen this happen when using some of the larger stuff, where our jump pack was completely capable of starting the vehicle, but the condition of the battery was such that it wouldn't start it immediately. So at the time of writing this review, it looks like it is no longer in stock via amazon and only sold by the company for $100. It's still a fairly good deal at that price. My only concern for this jump pack, and another one like it that I've bought by Matco, is how well it will hold up over time. The batteries in the JNC style jump packs last us approximately 2 years, sometimes less. So if one of these can last about that long, I'll be completely happy. This is AAA style work though, for an average person that only uses it a few times a year for themselves and random folks they meet that need help, I imagine it'll last quite a bit longer. Edit Dec 16, 2014. Alright, well here's an update. This easily starts my car (04 Hyundai Sonata, 2.7L V6). And most other vehicles that are similar. At least during the summer. We're finally getting into winter so we'll see what happens. I haven't kept track of what all has started, but a couple would be a 2010 Civic and an 09 Rav4. Some things I would not expect it to work with, a BMW, especially if the battery is drained. I don't know what exactly they're doing with their vehicles, I don't know if it's all the electronics, their engines have a ridiculous compression or what, but BMW's are very difficult to start. Volkswagon TDI's are likely going to be a no-go with these as well. So here's a way to kill one of these, or seemingly kill it. One of the other guys was trying to jump start an F150 I believe it was with a completely drained battery (no lights would even come on in the vehicle). He hooked it up and tried starting it a couple of times and we believe in the process killed the little jump pack. So as a general rule, if all that happens when you hook it up is some clicking, don't keep trying to start the vehicle!

Great if it lasts
Worked great to jump two cars and comes in handy if you need to charge your phone on the go. When I tried to use it a third time the plastic positive clamp just snapped making it useless for anything but charging my cell phone. Product itself works but the clamps are a bit cheap. Update 2/25/15 The company has agreed to replace the broken item showing they actively back the product. I am hoping the plastic holds out longer this time because it is a great compact product that can really come in handy when it is working.

Car started running fine for a while after getting simply a jump start
My battery caused problems one day so I called AAA to tow my car. Car started running fine for a while after getting simply a jump start. I went home and started searching for a jump starter to carry around in my car for emergency purpose. I looked at all those that are available in stores locally but either they were too big to carry around in my car or too pricey. Suddenly I stumble across Antigravity Batteries Micro-Start PPS XP-1 and I almost bought it. However Amazon showed alternative products and I found this MAXMADE one. I did some research and found out that Micro-Start PPS XP-1 only comes with 4400mAh battery capacity while MAXMADE comes with 11000mAh battery capacity and the main thing is for half the price. I immediately bought this MAXMADE and just received in today. This unit has two USB ports to run mobile devices but my main reason to buy this unit was for car jump start purpose. The battery was charged up to 3 LEDs out of 4 on front display so I placed this unit on wall charger for about 30 minutes until this unit get fully charged. I then went to parking lot and unhooked the positive terminal from the battery in my car. I then connected this unit and with finger crossed I tried to start my car. Unbelievable....my V6 engine with 3.5L started right away. I was impressed. The description says that this unit can take 15 cranks so I turned off the car and tried to start again. No problem whats so ever to start my car second time. To test the limit of this unit I continued the cycle and started my car 10 times in a row....yes you have read it right 10 times in a row and there was no problem at all to start my car 10 times in a row. However I noticed the cables and unit get noticeable hot after 10 jump start. Cables were definitely hot enough to not to carry around in hands. In order to not to kill the unit I stopped after 10 jump start but that was more than enough to believe in this product. As always Amazon at it's best to deliver this item and this item came with nice carrying leather kind of bag with wall charger, 12V car charger, USB cable, and jump start cable. Seems to be a great product and I will definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a great jump starter.

Stick to another brand. This one lets you down when you need it the most.
I got the Maxmade as a second jump starter. It was offered at a great price as compared to the other units, but looks nearly identical. It came nicely packaged in its own carry case. I charged it up over night, tested the USB ports, and the flash light. All was good. Placed in the car. 3 months later, I needed it. Hit the power button. No juice. No Juice from the USB, no flashlight, no jumper. I thought the battery was dead- so I brought it inside, hooked up the included AC adapter, and it was 3 out of 4 indicator lights. Within 30 minutes, it was fully topped off. Still couldn't turn it on. The one year warranty is garbage- the seller never responded. Amazon took the item back, but charged me a hefty "restocking" fee, even though they were aware that the seller didn't respond, and that the product was broken.

I'll never be with out one again
I've only used this on a motorcycle so far, but it did a great job there. Great price. I had a Powerall before this which I thought was an amazing tool but I broke it (head up my.......and connected the cables backwards) I replaced it with this one as the other review were good and the price was a lot lower. If you've ever had to beg a stranger for a jump or wait forever for AAA to arrive this is a MUST have for the price and size. Update about 16mons after purchase: does not hold a charge for more than about 2 weeks. I only use this for emergencies so I don't have it out all of the time. I did check it just in case and discovered that it had no lights laminating on the indicator so I charged it up and noted that it will no longer hold a charge for any length of time. So I pulled 3 stars off; I realize that batteries have a life span but I would like longer than this.

it works great. has helped me a bunch on my motorcycle ...
the kickstart function works only when fully charged - that means that you just unplugged it from full charge. Otherwise it doesn't work. When its fully charged though, it works great. has helped me a bunch on my motorcycle cold starting it from home after a full charge during winter. Away from home, and thus away from a charging socket, its never worked for me.. apart from that it charges my nexus 7 and my note 4 and my kindle just fine. but i've got other smaller more convenient, more portable battery chargers on the go for that.

Three years later, I am amazed!
This is probably the most well deserved review I've ever made. When I bought this on July 1st, 2014, I knew I couldn't really recommend it unless I was able to actually start a dead car. I also knew my wife and daughter would need the simplest instructions were they ever stranded so I printed instructions and taped them to the front of the case (see picture). Over the years I would occasionally top off the charge and then stick the case back under the front seat of the car, not really sure if it would work or not. And, no, I was too lazy to go disconnect the battery terminals to test without a car battery. This was mostly a "fingers-crossed-I-sure-hope-it-works" purchase. So two weeks ago I took my wife and daughter to the airport with my wife's car, a nice Subaru Outback. A car that never gives us trouble. Ha, ha, little did I imagine that the back trunk light switch had been trapped in the "always on" mode by shifting luggage. So today with less than 24 hours before their return and my guilty conscience triggered because I promised to wash it before their return I find it won't start! It's probably been a year since I last charged the MaxMade. Surprisingly it does have one of four capacity lights so in a little over two hours it is fully charged again and.... yeah, you guessed right, following the printed instructions on the case the dead Subaru engine starts right up! And if that's not impressive enough I didn't let the engine run long enough to get the battery back up to snuff so I had to do the steps once again and binga banga boom, she starts again! Now I can finally leave this five star review AND know that back under the seat is a great car starter! (Just need to remind myself to keep it charged!)

Great company and product!
Great company with excellent customer service! I purchased one of these units back in July 2014 and didn't get to try to use it until March 2015. When I charged it I was only able to charge my phone to about 20 % and it wouldn't hold a charge. I contacted the company and they were awesome with communication (almost daily) They apologized for the problem with the unit and promised a replacement. In 4 days the new unit was here and it works great! I am so happy when a company steps up as quickly as they did. This is a really well made unit and I would not hesitate to purchase another from them. Thank you for your great service!
