Review: I was SHOCKED but they really work! - Our house was once a barn so the cellar is pretty primitive (a near dirt cellar) but our cat loves it. But when he started to bring bats upstairs (either dead or pretending to be) I was a bit freaked out. Our vet said that any "machine" that sends out a high pitched sound which the companies claim doesn't harm a cat was false-he would hear it and be bothered by it. (And then she put him on a yearly rabies shot routine rather than once every 3 years). So these bags were my only option and I didn't have any high hopes that they would actually work since the exterminator said he had never even heard of them. But they were cheap enough so I bought a 4 pack and literally just tossed them in the one small room that I suspected was the only room the bats could be in and voila. No more bats. I bought a second pack a few months later because it says that the smell fades after a few but that was a year ago. I think the bats have left for good! After reading some of the reviews, I think that the scent bags are really made for somewhat hidden areas where bats have lived for awhile and which are kind of inaccessible for humans. I'm not sure the product would do much for the occasional stray bat that may be flying around one's home. Get a tennis racket and open a window for that scenario. Review: Not recommended - It does not work. We have 2 satchels inside an upside down yogurt container to stop them getting wet. We can smell it from 4m away but 1 bat comes in every night and eats all the ripening fruit. There are no interior walls.** A: According to the manufacture - place one pack per 150' square feet. With your dimensions - you will need approximately 50 packs. I would recommend using some kind of 'Mint' Scented spray **Q: How often do we need to change the bat repellent packets?** A: Ours lasted a couple of months. Scent declined over time, but bats have not come back. We also sprayed the area where bats were present with an animal repellent. **Q: We have a bat in the attic. Do we have to close up the windows? They have screens.** A: We have bats rousting at night on the side of the house leaving bat droppings on the concrete and of all the products such as this and the electronics ones, none worked to get rid of the bats.
