Is the image rotation manual or automatic? Can you leave it on a single image?

The rotation is manual. That little blue knurled wheel about 1/3 of the way down the green 'globe' is what you turn in order to select the image you want.

how could i make it rotate on its own?

it doesn't. we had to buy an adapter that rotates to plug it into. that's the only downside to it, otherwise its very cool and we have high ceilings and were still able to see the projector very clearly
