I’ve been a barber for about 7 years, and used lather king, lather time, and a few others, but this one has worked consistently where as the others were always spotty and the heat was never this good. Review: UPDATE 2 MONTHS LATER- (old review "So far so good") - IM OUT $140!!! Its been two months since beginning to use in my new barbershop. It was perfect until yesterday. I used it once and it started smoking like crazy making an odd sound and smelled like fire. I immediately unplugged in and let it sit until the end of my work day. I then emptied the lather and cleaned the machine with the recommended machine cleaner. When i turned it back on, the machine started to smoke again, smelling the same way and i immediately unplugged again. I made sure all the pieces were clear from lather and tried it one more time. this time it wouldnt shut off, still smoking, still smells like fire. I sent a message to the seller and they basically told me they wouldnt do anything because they sent it to me in working condition and that their machines go through high testing and that it was fine. I contacted desertcart and they told me to contact the seller. Now i am out the $140 in a very busy barbershop having to do the old fashioned coffee cup cold lather. This is absolutely ridiculous. OLD POST- I just opened my own barber shop and wanted this machine to match the rest of my equipment. I wanted weeks before I could get it and hesitated buying it due to reviews. Knock on wood (seriously don't want to jynx myself) this thing has been amazing. The first use everyday is very very hot but the rest of the day is perfect temp. I use it with Campbell's premixed shaving cream and I love it. If this one dies, I'll probably just buy another one. I am a professional barber from Virginia and was leery of buying it because of no reviews but I took a chance because it is very attractive and smaller than the big ones from back in the day. Also it matches our shop decor. I was worried the lather would be lukewarm and not hot but that's not the case. The lather is good and hot but it doesn't burn. Perfect temp for shaves.
