You will need an external power connection due to the draw being too much for the iPhone. **Q: Can these drive HD 6xx's with ease?** A: Yes, I use it to drive my 300+ ohm planar magnetics with relative ease; powering the 150 ohm HD 6xx will not be an issue. **Q: Can this be used as a dac only? i have this unit, which is great btw, but want to purchase the magni 3 as well. can i use them both?** A: I think it'll act as a DAC all in its own if it's connected to the magni 3, but it'll also act as a preamp passively. Haven't noticed any major differences sound wise compared to the Origen+.
