Does this protect the actual key from coming out? Lost my fob by accident hoping this blocks the key from coming off the fob?

Does the key still fit into the slot on the car (C7 in my case) with this case on?

No, it does not fit with the case on, the case must be removed in order for the key to fit the slot on the C7. It is not necessary to insert the key fob in the slot for the vehicle to start when it is encased.
