By simply adding the net-usb-(kernel)-pcpCore.tcz from the PiCorePlayer library through the pcP GUI and rebooting, the adapter was recognized and activated, and assigned an IP Address by DHCP. So from a tech / usability standpoint, easy and efficient solution, simple to install. From a cost prospective, the adapter is more expensive than the board itself ... If I had anticipated wifi issues I would have used a pi3B+ or any other model with onboard LAN ETH .
