Best. Movie. Ever. I really need to stop renting it and just buy it already. I've given it some thought and this guy was stuck in that day for what had to be decades... I'm thinking 30 years+...

Bill Murray plays a weatherman who discovers a time anomaly and uses it to seduce his producer (Andie MacDowell) and at least one other woman at a Groundhog's day festival in a small Pennsylvania town, but he learns to be a better person or something... Messed up premise and implausible romantic lead pairing aside it really is a very funny film and a timeless classic.

This is one of the finest films I have ever viewed. Brilliantly written by Danny Rubin and Harold Ramis. Bill Murray's deadpan sardonic humor mixed with McDowell's charm and Ramis' philosophical insight makes the film entertaining, memorable and somewhat life altering. It's said that Ramis and Murray clashed over whether they should focus more on serious or comic elements and this friction may have helped them produce the perfect balance. Clever, funny and deep all at once. I have watched this piece of art many times and learned something new with each pass. I have also grown more fond of it and developed a greater respect for the people who brought it to the screen. Just watch it. Then watch it again.

I saw this movie some years ago and some friend talked about it put it in my mind so I put it on my Watch list. Needing to laugh I watched it last night. I watched carefully to see how/where/when the warping in the fabric of space/time took place - how it was that Phil, the newscast personality was singled out to relive the same day multiple times. but the producers and screen-writers did not care to come up with any sci-fi explanation of scenario of events or metaphysical theory of why the entire universe was forced to re-live this day again and again - without anyone remembering - like the slate was wiped clean and they all had to walk onto life's stage with the same parameters and possibilities over and over and react to the same stimuli in different ways - while our hero, Phil got to go through it all with conscious memory that he had done it before and that it would come up again tomorrow and he would have to go through the same events and meet the same people again, interact with them in new ways because he was bored by it all and the meaninglessness of it all. That said, I loved the movie. It was fun, funny, entertaining. I like Bill Murray's (or his writers') natural comedic talent, if here is such a word, his quick wit and one-line put-downs. I enjoyed watching Murray tear through life like there was no death, like nothing that we did mattered, like we get to come back again and do it right anyway. It gave him a certain courage and cynicism to just do what he felt like. It made me think that perhaps life really is like that - that we get to come back again and deal with karma created by the mistakes we make - if only we can remember to remember the past and learn from it. But, leaving metaphysics aside I liked that Murray appeared to really fall in love with Andie MacDowell and I guess it was that true love that broke the spell and let them get back into the flow of time as we know it. I won't spoil it by telling the plot - of which there is very little - but I will say I will come back to watch Groundhog Day again and again when I need a good laugh to break me out of worrying about the present.

It’s a classic

This is the story of how a man learns to love his life. It is funny, surreal, and, ultimately, touching and thought-provoking. Phil (Bill Murray) is a TV weatherman who is assigned to cover Groundhog Day festivities in Puxatawney, PA. He hates the kitschy annual spectacle in which the cute rodent (also named Phil) is presented to cheering crowds as a good or bad omen of future weather. Phil has been working at his job long enough to develop a withering contempt for TV news, his colleagues, and pretty much life itself. He is a bright guy who thinks that because he is smart and unfulfilled, any happy people he encounters must by definition be idiots. Enter Rita, a new producer played by Andie MacDowell. She is as sunny and enthusiastic as Phil is cynical. He is drawn to her, but covers it with his usual dark humor. Luckily/unluckily for Phil (things will get worse before they get better), he will have many, many chances with Rita, because-- for reasons which are unexplained-- when he goes to bed and wakes up in the morning, it's Groundhog Day again. And again the next day. And again the next day. Every morning, no matter what he does, Phil's alarm clock-radio wakes him up with Sonny and Cher singing, "I Got You, Babe." Every morning, townspeople excitedly flock to the town square to find out if the groundhog saw his shadow. Every morning, Phil will run into Ned Ryerson, an annoying high school classmate who will try to sell him life insurance. Phil alone experiences the repetition; nobody else remembers what happened before. He discovers through trial and error that he can alter his actions and change certain events, but even after the most outlandish and seemingly final outcomes, Groundhog Day just keeps happening. There is no way out. Or is there? You can imagine that the way out may involve some growth for this character, but what happens to Phil isn't trite or corny. It's believable (well, as believable as a movie this enjoyably goofy can be) and mixed in with the humor there is a lot of heart, and a lot to think about.

Le tenía cierto recelo por ser una película de romance, pero me tragué mis palabras al verla, es una gran película que resuelve muy bien sus primicias, no es pretenciosa y la trama se desenvuelve de forma magistral, un clásico que no tiene desperdicio.

まずは、4k UHDディスクに関しては、昔の映画なのに画質はかなり良く仕上がっており、★5に値すると思います。 ストーリーに関しては、クチコミレビューの高さや、ネット記事での「スティーヴン・キングがお勧めする映画10選」に含まれていたり、ハードルを上げすぎたせいか、「そこまでベタ褒めするほどでも…」というのが、正直な感想。 良い映画ではありますけど、恋はデジャ・ヴを観るのが遅すぎたのかな。 他のタイムループ作品を既にそこそこ観てしまっているため、おそらく、元祖は「恋はデジャ・ヴ」なんだろうけど、あの作品や、あの作品や、あの作品で観たよな。という既視感がここそこに。 大きな期待を持たずに観たら良いと思いました。
