what type of batteries does it run on ?

Rechargable Ni-Cad battery and it includes instructions for replacing it

Does this work on kitchen tile floors

It does but still you need to wipe the area but remember it is not as easy as they show on TV. Dirty and older spots will take longer and also the brushes quality not that great .I hope they can come up with a little bit more heavier duty. I hope I could answer your questions

How long does it extend out?

Have not measured, but I can stand straight when using on shower and bath floors.

Does this product from Hurricane come with the mesh bag?

No it does not come with a mesh bag.
