I don’t want floppy, already have one like that** A: The latches are plastic and do not appear to flop at all. They are attached to the lid, so I set it aside when using the box. When the lid is off, the mixing tray is loose from the box, so it needs to be set aside, or set into the holes provided, although you wouldn’t want to push too hard on the mixing tray for fear of breaking the bits that attach. So far, I am pleased with this. **Q: It says can be used with oil paint. How can the palette be cleaned?** A: When I am using my oil paints I usually clean my palette with linseed oil. When I am finished with using my oil paints and want to clean away any oil residue on my tools [not paint brushes]and palette, I use Dawn dishwashing liquid. Note: I do not clean my oil painting brushes with anything other than a turp/linseed product. **Q: Can you fit a wet paper towel and parchment paper on the bottom for the old acrylic trick? Or is it too tight?** A: There's a silicone mat under the lid that seals to the top edges of the little containers inside. I don't see how a parchment could fit. I use it for unused oil paints remaining on my palette, and it keeps them from drying out. It does not “just peal right out” after the acrylic dries!** A: It doesn’t peal right out. I bought it because of that feature. If the paint is in it for more than a day it adhered to the surface. It has 24 paint cavities which can also hold tiny trinkets.Another important thing to note is that, it arrived with one of the closing nibs broken. Before I considered complaining, I received an email noting that this has been a ongoing problem, and that they would issue a replacement at no extra charge. The replacement arrived quickly and in perfect condition. But the gasket is just a thin piece of silicone and doesn’t have any groves around each square.
