These are a great choice for anyone looking to get a nice set of calipers for a lathe accessory. They were a little stiff initially and required assistance to open but as I used them that went away.

This review is of the outside calipers. I don't have anything Starrett (which doesn't bear comparing anyway) but I do have a decent pair of $30ish dividers. This isn't that but it's not so much worse I would pay triple for my use case (telling me when I've shaved enough off on a lathe). It came with a lot of slop in the nuts that hold the screw in place. That's easily fixable with a 6mm wrench but I shouldn't have to fix a new tool. They're passably sturdy and do align and even before I took out the slop they had precise reproduction once the spring was engaged, which is all I really wanted. I did take off a star because the adjustment nut is two parts like it's a quick slide system, but it isn't. It's just a normal thumb nut with a sleeve in front of it.

I've always wanted a pair of these, to better measure circles in the 6-12" range that have obstacles in the middle (think of the back of a speaker basket). These are very nice and the price was right. Glad I bought them.

THE CALIPER POINTS DIDN'T LINE UP AND WHEN OPENING UP THE CALIPER WITH THE SCREW, IT GOT HUNG UP THE THE THREADED ROD. I KEPT HAVING TO PULL IT AWAY FROM AXLE I WAS MEASURING AND PULL IT APART AND GO BACK TO THE AXLE. VERY ANNOYING. RETURNING MONDAY

Well made and competitively priced, great for wood lathe work.

Much better quality and workmanship than expected. Not intended for professional or continuous use. Great item to have at a very good price.
