I need them to be longer than they currently are.** A: Strip the outer end of the wire about 5mm and solder on longer wires. Then heatshrink the joined part for insulation. **Q: is the output a ground and a high positive or high negative, or is the output a high negative and positive?** A: i beleive it is 3 volts dc to an inverter with high volts AC out not DC out **Q: Is the output voltage ac or dc?** A: AC. Probably around 40 000V peak to peak. Low amps. **Q: How can it be 400kv if the output leads are only 1 inch apart and use ordinary 250v insulation? if it was more than 25kv it would just arc the leads** A: Well, first of all, that's not ordinary insulation. I didn't test it, but it looks like kynar. The maker used good output wiring. I'm not going to back his claim of 400KV, because I personally have not taken one of the units into my lab and measured it, but I know a good bit about HV. Don't assume that the breakdown characteristics of air are linear. They're not. Under normal kitchen table conditions, you can draw 4 inch sparks from a 20kv source.
