After reading the clock's description and comments, I'm confused. Is the frame real wood or resin?

Looks exactly like " a dark-brown solid oak frame with a wood-grain pattern". I like it and it is silent. I have had it a couple of years.

does the clock frame rest flush against the wall (preferably) or can you see the mechanics from a side view?

The clock frame (brown) doesn't rest against the wall, it's about 3/4" away. However, there is a plastic black housing that is slightly smaller than the brown frame that rests against the wall (which is were the mechanics are). You're not able to see this back surface unless you stand right next to it looking for it. This has been a great clock and doesn't make a sound.

How wide is it across the face of the clock, not including the frame?

It is 10 in across the middle with out frame...Nice size...

I have three of these, but one has started to loose time; however, if you lay the clock flat, it keep perfect time; Anyone else has this issue

Same problem. It started to show the wrong time after 2 years. Instructions on the sell page about a start/stop switch are wrong. There is no such switch.
