If i'm using wirecast, do i need to buy the web presenter as well? or is it just plug in the sdi's and green light?

Accepted Answer

Wirecast is pretty picky on hardware inputs. If you happen to have a computer with thunderbolt 3 (ie. a mac or higher end windows machine), then I would recommend going with the Blackmagic SDI mini recorder over thunderbolt as you will have better results than USB 3.0 hardware due to the quicker transfer speeds. You would have the opportunity to input a 4k signal to the computer once you upgrade to a 4k Switcher. To answer the question directly: to be able to get a video signal into the computer, you would have to have some sort of capture interface. Which one you choose depends on your computer. I chose an AJA UTAP SDI box since that fit my hardware, budget, and was compatible with my software (VMIX). -Adam -- Owner at Exile Studios.

Can I connect 5 cameras along with Audio ?

Accepted Answer

You can connect 4 HDMI and 4 SDI devices at the same time. If you need for example 5 HDMI then you would need a converter (HDMI to SDI) for the 5th device. Audio runs over each channel (4 HDMI and 4 SDI) and you can choose whether the audio switches to the current camera (AVF or Audio Follows Video - on the front panel) or whether it uses a specific camera's audio at all times. You can also input audio via the 2 XLR ports on the rear.

What is the latency to use for live display of a music performance? Need to ensure what is broadcast to the audience is in sync with the performers

Accepted Answer

There is nominal delay is you are using SDI or HDMI output. The Web Presenter, however, will introduce a delay, ad the signal has to be reencoded. This may take about 1/3 second. will i be able to use my 5d mark iii and 7D mark ii with this switcher?

I literally got my unit today. I used my 5D Mark III and it only worked when I set my HDMI to "Auto".
