I'm a fifty year old health care provider who will always remain skeptical of any nutritional supplement making bold, 'life-changing', or disease modifying claims or statements . I like to place my faith in conventional medicine, and prefer to see evidence of successful scientific studies before I feel comfortable recommending any product to a patient, friend, or family member. I purchased this Suntheanine Supplement on Amazon as an experiment a few weeks ago, and chose it mainly because of the overwhelming tide of other positive reviews. Over the past few months, I have been seeking a safe and 'natural' nutritional supplement to help me with some anger management and 'irritability' issues I sometimes have in my workplace environment. Patience with difficult people has never been one of my strengths, and my daily irritability is made all the worse by my caffeine consumption. To make a lengthy story shorter, I take a 200mg Suntheanine capsule one hour before work and--astonishingly--I am alert, focused, and relaxed throughout the course of my eight hour work day! I was stunned and pleasantly surprised that I had finally found a supplement that did exactly what it claimed---and more. I was elated and recommended the product to a fellow 'highly strung' colleague of mine who, after using Suntheanine for several days, informed me the product made him feel 'happy' and relaxed for the first time in a long time. It was important for me to have another health care professional confirm what I suspected and have the same-- or at least a similar--positive response to the same product. I had to rule out the role 'positive thinking' played in this experiment of mine. I have restricted my caffeine consumption a bit, but the oddest sensation I've noticed is that even after consuming copious amounts of coffee or caffeinated soda, I am still calm, alert, focused, and relaxed. I have read that theanine stimulates the production of nitric oxide in endothelial cells. This would cause blood vessels--particularly those in the heart--to dilate or relax. This action is important because many coffee, tea, and soda drinkers have related that theanine seems to work WITH caffeine to help promote concentration on mental tasks, inducing a state of alert calmness WITHOUT the unpleasant effects of caffeine overstimulation like; anxiety, irritability, repetitive behaviors,etc. Alpha brain wave activity increases and Beta brain wave activity decreases, but this is probably more than any of us needs to know about this supplements in vivo activity. Theanine is also purportedly effective in preventing certain forms of cancer, and may have some application in the future vs Alzheimer's disease. More studies need to be performed, but this is a supplement that obviously has multiple health benefits. It is for these and so many other reasons that I highly recommend this supplement for those seeking a unique product capable of inducing mental clarity and relaxation without inducing drowsiness. I am the same person I always was before Suntheanine, but these days I find that I am much more relaxed throughout the course of my hectic days at work. 5 stars for this life-changing supplement!
