## Questions & Answers

**Q: Has anyone mounted this to finished stud walls?  Any damage to the drywall after using this? (I'm not talking about mounting to drywall alone..)**
A: Hi Mike.  Yes, I mounted this unit to the finished walls in my house.  First, to answer your question, there is no damage to the drywall associated with the installation.  The 4 holes you drill are hidden behind the mounting plates.  However, the unit is pretty close to the wall, and I've had some...minor yet unexpected issues from use.  First is that it's easy for your feet to strike the wall when doing pull-ups.  Once you start exerting yourself, it's easy for your feet to swing around a bit.  Avoid wearing shoes and this shouldn't be an issue.  Secondly, I've noticed that over time, there are some stains on the wall that I can only assume are coming from sweat or saliva when I'm grunting out the final reps.  As for installation, I have a couple tips that I uncovered while installing mine.  First, find the center of just one stud.  I use a stud finder, but then used a 1/64" drill bit to drill to the left and right, so when I was off the stud on each side, I could split the difference and be sure I was in the exact center.  This unit mounts with large lag screws, and if you are not in the middle it could break out during use...anyway, then what you want to do is mount this first unit to the wall, but only tighten up the lag screw just unit the unit holds itself on the wall.  Then, mount the pull-up cross bar to the wall mount, just getting it slightly snug.  Then, place the second wall mount up and bolt the cross bar to it, finger tight.  Using a level, parallel the mounting plates and mark your holes.  This is important because there is very little play between the cross bar and the mounts; if you are off by even a little bit, the bolts won't drop into place.  By having the cross bar in place and finger tight before you drill your second set of holes solves this.  Oh, one last thing. The foam grips are comfortable, but don't hold up well at all if you are using gloves.  Be prepared to buy some rubberized grip tape within a few months.  All in all, this is a very solid unit for the price, and I'd buy one again.  Best, Bill.

**Q: Can this bar be mounted on studs above a doorway so there is room for legs to swing forward through the door if needed?**
A: I wanted to accomplish the very same thing when installing the bar. However, the way that doors are framed, the bar would be off-center. The pull up bar would be more or less perpendicular with the door jamb. I thought it would be awkward, so I went ahead and installed it on my garage wall. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was far enough away from the wall for my liking. You could also turn facing away from the mounting hardware to accommodate leg swing. Otherwise, the construction of this product is very solid and I am very happy with my purchase.

**Q: How large is it? Measurements please!**
A: UBP Response:  In the Spring 2014 we improved upon the design based on customer feedback. The improvements include increasing the wall thickness on the mounting plates and pull up bar tubing and changes to the dimensions to increase clearance from the wall and improve grip options. **Q: I am 110kg(about 245 lbs). Is it enough strong for me?**
A: According to some reviews I have read, it is.  As long as it is fastened to studs, you should be ok.  Im not 245 so I cant speak to it personally.  I would read more reviews if I were you.  Good bar though.
