The first two pictures are from 4 years ago and the last one shows the spike deterrents. In 2021 a pair of Robins built a nest on top of one of the lights that are on either side of the door on the front porch of my house. (See Picture #1)I had my doubts whether or not it would survive because of going in and out the door with the dog for walks and, of course, the frequent visit from the Amazon drivers. They constructed a nice looking nest, laid and hatched 3 eggs, but in a short time it was apparent that these were not the best nest builders. In the first picture you can see one of the chicks in pin feathers and one of the parents. Cozy looking, but the nest was actually tilting off to the side. I had to wire it to the fixture, but in no time it was apparent that this wasn't the fix it needed. It started to fall apart, baby chicks fell out, hitting the cement hard from 6' up. The babies were scooped up and put back in the nest, but the one chick was considerably larger than the other two and I suspect it was kicking the smaller ones out. Eventually the smaller ones disappeared. The nest fell off the light; I replaced it. Finally, I just got a silk fern in a pot on a raised stool to hold the nest (with my dog's cone of shame to keep the squirrels away) and the parents fed the surviving chick until it fledged. Not wanting to repeat this scenario, when evidence of nesting showed up this year, the material was removed. And the birds replaced it. I tried to put sticky tape on top of the fixture, but the birds removed it and replaced it with more nesting material. So I found these spikes and put them where the nesting materiel was being placed. The next day, there was no activity! The day after that, there was a string of foliage in the spikes, but they gave up and went to the light on the other side of the door! Now that one is also wearing a crown. These sure seem like they are going to be the fix I needed. But, these Robins are apparently very smart and determined! These were easy to put together and adhere to the light fixtures, wrapping around the part in back of the light that attaches to the house. What's nice about them is that while they are effective from the get go, they aren't obtrusive looking from the sidewalk and street.

Easy to setup. Instructions are simple and clear. I used it on a light fixture that covers a basketball court. No more birds landing in that area. Only had it about couple months but seems durable and effective. I ended up using zip ties to secure it safely to the light fixture.

It keeps the birds away. Easy to assemble. Good quality. Built better than other spikes I looked at. I'd buy it again

We live in a heavily wooded area, and the Carolina Wrens love to build nests in every nook and cranny around the house. We remove the nests until we find eggs in them, and at that point we just wait it out until the birds are gone again in the fall. We chose these deterrent spikes because we wanted metal rather than plastic — one less thing for the squirrels to chew on. Assembly was straightforward (definitely wear safety goggles, as the tines can spring out of your hands when attaching them to the base), and installation was a breeze. We opted to screw them down, which was simple thanks to the lightweight base and clearly marked mounting holes. So far they’ve been effective, and they look like they’ll continue to do the job.

As advertised. Study, and easy to install. Keeps my mailbox clean

Great, need a bit of time to assemble even if it is easy depending on how many meters you buy. In my case 25 meters and it was a bit of work. Once mounted they deter very well

I must have small, talented birds (Sparrow, Carolina Wren, etc.) that still were able to sit & weave twigs in between the tines and make a nest. It stopped the larger birds (Blue Birds, Cardinals, etc.) from roosting.

Squirrels destroyed a different rack I had mounted in my garden; I didn’t want to let them do the same to this new one. Product was beautifully packaged and instructions were clear. Assembling the spikes was tedious but satisfying, they click in to place really nicely. The stainless steel appears to be high quality and the spikes are very sturdy once assembled. Two ends needed to be trimmed during installation and tinsnips worked well. Installation was easy if you are screwing into wood, I don’t think I would like to mess around with zip ties. You will need a bit extension in order not to savage your hands. But - the result!! The squirrels were very perplexed. The sat on the edge of the garage and contemplated for a very long time about making the leap. They have been all over the structure trying to get to the rack but can’t reach it. One got brave and made the jump; I was sad my back was turned and I didn’t see it. But the twanging sounds and sheer chaos that followed have me confident that a lesson was learned. Great product. Worth the investment on any stationary structure that you would like to keep safe from pests.
