It has a good water capacity at 1.7L and it's stainless steel rather than plastic. The upside of that means that the water tends to retain heat for longer than it does in a plastic kettle. On the flip side, the outside of the kettle gets extremely hot after boiling though this does not affect the handle, but it's something to be aware of if you have young children around. Not that they should be anywhere near a boiled kettle anyway. It boils quickly enough but I wouldn't say it's any quicker than any other mid-price kettle and it's pretty noisy in doing it. The lid releases with a button at the top of the handle but it doesn't go up quite as far as I'd like - only to about 60° so quite a bit short of vertical which might make filling awkward on some sinks/taps? There's a water gauge on the left side. It would be better if it had one on each side as I'm left-handed so when I put the kettle on the base, the gauge is to the wall and I have to turn it 180° to see. All in all though, minor niggles.
