I bought this so that I didnt have to carry lots of water. But I keep reading that people can still become ill even with a filter so perhaps you also want chemical tables to purify your water. The product itself is brilliant, light and probably just what you want. Just check on the plastic bottle screw top size that you want to attach it to as smaller bottles dont fit and nor do large bottles but getting the correct bottle is as easy as buying what ever drink from the co-op, drinking it and reusing that bottle. I have only tested it in the kitchen, it filters quite fast and the plastic pouch seems quality. It all compresses down and can be easily stored in a ruck sack. I have used one properly in the past to filter canal water which I then boilded. The water was clear and tasted "ok". The product (the filter) itself can be used stand alone without the pouch and becomes a straw which I would be happy to use on a hill stream while camping as long as it isnt regularly used by other people going to the loo nearby - its human waste contaminating the water that can make you ill rather than the odd sheep. I read a report that human waste was the reason people using filters like this became ill in Scotland (not animal waste). So from now on in poplular walking sites I'd use either a tablet or boil in addition to this filter. Out in the sticks with normal river water I think it'd be fine with just the filter as long as you're not near a farm - but read up on the risks first.

Well once unpacked this water filter took 15 minutes to set up and the whole thing feels very well made with quality materials. I tested it just using tap water just to check flow and for any leaks but it's dry at every joint and seal. The water flows very well and it will suit my needs perfectly. I like the handy little 480ml hydration pouch too which can be filled and can clip to your belt or rucksack straps for a quick drink when needed. There's definitely an improved taste difference that the filter makes. I think this will last well and I will add an update to this review once I've put it to use with stream water when I go camping.

I like the water bag and the filter straw itself both of which work well and seem well made. The bag feels very robust and is easy to seal and the clip/handle works nicely. The plastic pipe is strong and the clip to stop the water flow, while basic, works well. What lets this down is the drinking bag, which appears to be where cost have been cut. Without the bag attached water will flow well but it seems to take a bit of fiddling to get it working once the bag is attached. An annoyance you could do without.

The bladder can hold about 5L. Ive used this many times on camping trips. Not sure how many litres the filter can take but so far done about 4 trips with it and the water tastes just list it did when the filter was brand new. The water taste is a bit like water from a brita filter. It tastes clean and removes all the nasty stuff that you don't see with a naked eye. Normally I would buy 5 litre jugs of water and carry it to camp site but that's no longer required. This filter is a life saver and doesn't take much space in your backpack. You can break it up into bits to make it fit better in your backpack if you like.

Great delivery and packaging very professional. I use several types of filters, from gravity fed units to prepping types of filters this unit is well made and I already have confidence in using, with reassuring connections on the water bag and filter itself. I did have an initial concern which in the end was of my making and I did contact Jessica at Waterdrop for a remedy. Basic problem, my tap water is ultra hard and also I have to use a salt block device inline to prevent scale......Yes, correct it is a camping filter, however,Jessica from Waterdrop replied quickly to my concerns, took me through the basics and even more information. Follow up mails by Jessica were timely and very useful. I cannot rate the product and company higher,😜even receiving a replacement unit which will comp in useful as a spare. Being on the ball, Waterdrop will be my go to company for any future water related units.,..Thankyou

• Filled a 1.5L bottle in about 2 minutes. • Water was crystal clear when filtered, no dirt visible. • Water tasted good, however that might be dependent on the source. • Simple to set up. • Slightly large to pack in rucksack but not huge and might find a more compact way to pack. • Lightweight. • Got it at £29, incredible value for health.

One of the best water filters of the market. Tested in the wide open on the wildeness with river waters and rain water. Works perfectly as described.
