There is a fine pin stuck to the inside of the eraser. You can remove the eraser and use this to clear any broken lead. When the pencil is completely assembled, depress the top as if you were going to advance the lead. Extremely gently insert a new lead, while keeping the top depressed. I always load my 0.3 pencils from the writing end, since the lead is so fragile. All brands of 0.3 lead pencils are difficult, for most people a 0.5 or 0.7, is better. This is probably the best. **Q: I don't see the eraser.,.. How easy is it to expose it? Can you leave the eraser exposed? I typically always do that...** A: The eraser is located under the silver cap at the top. Being a drafting pencil, the eraser is very small (~4mm) and is designed for fixing small mistakes without erasing anything else. For erasing most mistakes, I would suggest a separate eraser such as the Pentel retractable click (http://www.amazon.com/Pentel-Eraser-Retractable-Assorted-ZE21BP3-K6/dp/B001HA77OO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1453514031&sr=8-1&keywords=pentel+retractable+eraser) or the Pentel Hi-Polymer Block Eraser (http://www.amazon.com/Pentel-Hi-polymer-Block-Eraser-ZEH10BP3-K6/dp/B001Q4HQVU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1453514058&sr=8-1&keywords=pentel+hi+polymer+eraser) **Q: Some people say that since the tip is retractable it can become wobbly while writing. Anybody else have this problem?** A: Wobbly may be a bit of an exaggeration but there can be a bit of movement in the tip. I have a two Graph Gear 1000's, one tip has no movement and the other has maybe a 1/2 mm movement. The movement is imperceptible while writing though, at least for me. **Q: Is this mechanical pencil comfortable when used to write for long periods of time? Thanks in advance for any answers.** A: I use it all of the time and find it quite comfortable. I'm taking multiple classes and use it as my only writing implement in every one- note-taking as well as homework.Good luck!Sam ## Frequently Bought Together - Pentel Arts GraphGear 1000 Mechanical Pencil Premium Gift Set with Refill Leads & Erasers (PG1000BXSET) - Pentel GraphGear 500 Limited Edition Mechanical Pencil, Classic Colors Box Set, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 0.9mm point sizes included, Box of 4 Pencils (PG520RBXSET) - Pentel Sharp Mechanical Pencil, Limited Edition Kimono Colors Box Set, 0.3mm, 0.5mm, 0.7mm, 0.9mm Point Sizes Included, (P200JPBXSET) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.dk/products/249759505-pentel-arts-graphgear-1000-premium-gift-set-with-refill-leads](https://www.desertcart.dk/products/249759505-pentel-arts-graphgear-1000-premium-gift-set-with-refill-leads) --- *Product available on Desertcart Denmark* *Store origin: DK* *Last updated: 2026-10-22*
