Trust me - get two.
I bought a discounted "used like new" model from a seller on AMZ, and then for the same money a 2nd "certified by JBl refurb" sold by AMZ. I was going back and forth between getting 2 of these or buying a BoomBox3 - but shyed away from the boombox just because of its larger size and the fact you can't detach the handle to make it "look" smaller and more at home in a room setting (JBL should really consider making the handles detachable on the boomboxes). Lemme tell you - I can't even believe what I'm hearing. I have them paired in stero mode with one on each corner of my living room. Its pretty crazy for their size. I mean - you're NOT replacing the bass from home tower speakers with 12" woofers, but the bass IS there. Crystal clear audio, loud, thumping. The 2nd one makes a WORLD of difference to fill the room with music. It's really worth considering. The ONLY issue I had was interference - I guess from having them placed near some other Bluetooth devices. I couldnt get threw a song without them glitching and or dropping a channel. But since I've moved them and separated them away from each other, and other wireless signal items - problem free (so far). I can't really keep them where I originally WANTED to place them (on top of a very long and low media cabinet that under my big tv) but I guess I'll manage. Not like I'm gonna use them everyday. I was ready to call JBL and start complaining the stero feature and partycast (whatever it's called) just DIDNT work reliablely enough to use them, but it does. And when it does - whoa .. I believe you need two of the same models to pair them in stereo - which really seems to be best at keeping them absolutely in sync with each other. The sound quality and loudness that comes out of these (even unplugged and not at full power) is really just amazing. You'll know why EVERY OTHER CHEAP SPEAKER - gets compared to JBL.

Best speaker. period!
Iโm thrilled with this JBL speaker! This speaker is a powerhouse of sound, delivering impressive audio quality with deep, resonant bass and crystal-clear highs that make every song sound incredible. The build quality is fantasticโit's rugged and durable, and the IP67 waterproof rating means I can take it to the pool or beach without worrying about damage. The 15-hour battery life is perfect for all-day listening, and the powerbank feature is a real bonus, allowing me to charge my devices on the go. Setting up the Xtreme 3 was a breeze, and the PartyBoost feature is a game-changer for creating a truly immersive sound experience. Iโve paired it with another JBL speaker (Flip 6), and the sound fills the entire room beautifully. The speakerโs design is both stylish and functional, with a comfortable carrying strap that makes it easy to transport. Itโs clear that JBL has put a lot of thought into both performance and practicality. Overall, the JBL Xtreme 3 has exceeded all my expectations. If youโre in the market for a high-quality, portable Bluetooth speaker with excellent sound, durability, and versatility, this is the one to get. Highly recommended!

Literally bang for the buck
Catch the extreme 3 on a sale and there is no question about value price point. I wasnโt even shopping for such a speaker, but I saw this going for a surprisingly low price (lowest ever) and got one. I could have gotten two for what the newest exteme costs. I really enjoy hang this speaker and while it doesnโt shake the windows, it projects great and has a nice full sound to it.

Witchcraft? Voodoo? Something this size shouldn't sound this big!
I've owned a few JBL products over the years, and this definitely lives up to the legacy. There's no way something the size of an American Football should fill a 2 bedroom apartment with this much sound without having to be stupid loud. Sound- bass forward while still being clear. High end sounds great, mids are good, bass is great, though it does cut off some super low bass. Battery- I've had it running for 12 hours at a medium volume (which is plenty loud in my apartment) and the battery was still at 20%. 15 hours is believable. Range- about 150 feet, without obstructions. Way more than I'll ever need. Connectivity- I haven't had any issues, when connected to either my computer or phone. Portability- unless you have extra large hands, you'll need both hands or the strap. It's a little awkward without the carrying strap. Added bonus- the strap has a bottle opener built in. Water resistance- it survived a surprise downpour with no problem and that was after it took a tumble off a counter top onto a tile floor (the cat's a terrorist). My only real issue is the fabric coating. It's difficult to keep clean. It grabs every piece of stray cat hair, dust or fuzz that floats by, and could almost be considered a de-shedding tool for animals that rub up against it. I wish it had speaker phone capability like the Charge does. There's been a couple times where that would have come in handy. All in all, it sounds way bigger than it is, has good battery life and if you watch for deals it's worth every penny.

Pretty good. Loose audio jack. PartyBoost suffers from interference.
Overall I like these speakers. They sound good. Plenty of volume and base. I like the strap and the hooks. Feels like good quality - mostly. This is my first time trying JBL speakers, and unfortunately, I ran into a bad batch of audio jacks. My first Extreme 3 was perfect; but I also got a Boombox 3 at the same time, and I the audio jack was too loose to hold. I exchanged the Boombox 3 for another, and it had the same issue. So I returned that, and got a second Extreme 3 - and unfortunately it also has a loose audio jack. However, the jack holds just well enough that I decided to keep it. For me, the audio jack is a critical feature. One of the main reasons I got this speaker was to see if PartyBoost would work as a whole-house audio system. Unfortunately, it doesn't. It's extremely sensitive to interference. If you put the speakers in separate rooms, the sound like drops out and sounds staticy; and if you get too close to one of the speakers, it gets worse, and in some cases the sound completely stops. In fact, even in a single room, the speakers have to be pretty close without stuff or people passing in between. In fairness, I never read or heard that PartyBoost would work across rooms (and I figured it probably wouldn't); and I think all they say about it are meaningless things like "amp up your party" and "take your party to the next level". I suppose those are literally true in the sense that the volume increases. So, aside from the stereo feature, which I don't care about and didn't try, this is almost a useless feature. So, since it has two major features which I consider to be somewhat defective, I'm only giving it 4 stars, so that the reader is aware that something is probably not as expected with this speaker, as advertised. However, so far, other than the audio jack and PartyBoost, I am quite satisfied with this speaker. I haven't tried a ton of other BT speakers, but I have tried a couple of good ones, so I'll tell you how it compares. First, is my last speaker, which was the Soundcore Motion Boom. That speaker is basically like a direct competitor, and it sounds decent, but it does drop or flattens some of the sound detail. I think the Extreme 3 sounds better, but not so much better that it's obviously worth the increase in price. The Motion Boom is currently going for $85, and I think I paid like $120 when I got it, but the Xtreme 3 is currently going for $380. (Also just realized I been spelling it wrong this whole time.) But, the JBL has a few additional features. 1) Tweaters. 2) Audio Jack! 3) Anchor hooks. 4) Carrying strap. (And I guess technically PartyBoost.) But, the Xtreme 3 doesn't have a nice handle like the Motion Boom does; and I kind of think the round, rolly body of the JBL is kind of a bad thing; whereas the Motion Boom has a rectangular body that won't roll away so easily. I kind of wish they both had a handle and carrying strap, so its kind of a trade-off; but I do think the anchor points on the Xtreme 3 are a little more flexible. I can just attach a handle, if I can find/fashion one. I could also do that with the Motion Boom (and I did), but it's more awkward, since the handle is basically a wide tube. The other speaker I can kind-of compare it to is the Sony SRSX5, which is a much older speaker; and it's been a couple of years since I had it; but I remember it sounding very nice. Well, I think the Xtreme 3 is probably just as nice, except a couple of small differences. I think the Xtreme 3 is probably a little more punchy (as the Motion Boom is) and I suspect that's because of their outdoorsy, waterproofy design. Also, the SRSX5 is kind of bass heavy, and has a more mellow sound, which I kind of didn't like about it. But either way, I think some people might prefer either sound over the other; so they're about the same in my opinion. Other than that, the SRSX5 and Xtreme 3 are not really comparable, because they're different sizes, and the SRSX5 is not designed to be an outdoors speaker. They're designed for different environments. But I think the sound comparison is still relevant and valuable. In many settings, I think they'll have similar sound abilities. I would think the Xtreme 3 could get louder than the SRSX5, since it is bigger; but honestly, I don't know. I guess another thing I can compare on these 3 speakers is quality and durability; and overall they all seem like good quality, durable devices; with the exception of that one Xtreme 3 with the loose audio jack; and unfortunately, since I found 3 JBL 3-series speakers with such loose audio jacks, that casts some doubt about the quality of the JBL brand; especially in $300-$500 speakers.

Trรจs bonne enceinte !

Last years model
I bought this when the newer Charge 4 was released, so it was something like half of the RRP. The sound is slightly disappointing straight out of the box, but after a few hours of playing the bass has loosened up and it sound much better. Many of these portable speakers are only mono. Although this one is stereo, the imaging is not very good because the speakers are too close together to do any better. I had considered two separate Flip 2's to get the stereo imaging, but that would sacrifice the thumping base that this unit can produce. I should mention that this unit is solid and seems close to bombproof!
