I filled the jar halfway with water. I put a teaspoon of vinegar in jar with seeds. I stirred the seeds to clean them....using a teaspoon in a normal manner, nothing rigorous. A slight tap of teaspoon against the glass's wall caused the jar to crack open. Again, damage was done with little very little force. The glass jar is thin. Mason or Kerr jars are made of much thicker glass and a lot more durable. Also, one of the jar's lid cover did not tighten. It was like cross-threaded. Pretty bummed. The ceramic and stainless wire set-up is very nice and of good heavy quality. The lid screens are of very good quality stainless so they won't rust. If you're considering buying a set please be sure to use a PLASTIC utensils to stir and be careful while washing. The jars are made of thin glass. **Q: how big is the drip tray?** A: The tray is 5.75 inches by 9.75 inches **Q: Is it a tablespoon of seeds to start with?** A: I used 2 tablespoons of mung bean per bottle. But it would be good to start with 1 tablespoon, then figure out how much you want. **Q: I ordered a set but it did not come with instructions on planting procedures.
