Review: Great value - I work in battery R&D and purchased this for work with my account using the p-card I was given by my manager. My company has sites around the globe, so we do a lot of video calls. One our labs that I work in is used for constructing 2 volt batteries- handling lead and sulfuric acid. Bringing laptops into that lab is out of the question as it could expose them to lead and lead oxide dust that we would then bring out of the lab as contamination and possibly bring home to our families. I have this cable set up through the ceiling tiles to connect to my laptop in another room, and allow me to use a webcam (mounted on a tripod) and a bluetooth headset to communicate while working in that lab and still eliminate any risk of bringing lead out of the room. It works great. No loss of picture quality, and it's long enough to be able to go from the next room over and still allow the camera to be placed anywhere within the assembly lab.

**Q: Can I use this cable to connect a computer in one room to a usb keyboard and usb mouse in an adjacent room?**
A: I would think you could. We purchased this to connect out desktop computer in our home to a power chair out side as we could not get the power chair into the home to use a shorter cable. It worked fine and we have used it several times this way. In fact we had to use 2 of these cables hooked together to reach from the computer to the chair and it worked great.

**Q: i purchased the 16'  but no red light comes on as one post shows? should there be a red light when it is connected???**
A: Yes

**Q: After hooking it up to a desktop, could I then attach a small usb hub to the end, and use it with two controllers for some convient couch gaming?**
A: I imagine that would work. So long as the devices don't require a lot of power or the hub is a powered one you should be fine.

**Q: Will this work to extend the charging/power cord for an iPad?**
A: Mine would allow me to use my iPad as a remote when plugged in; however it did not charge the iPad.  I should have returned it since it didn't do what I wanted.

I've been using this cable for at least 6 months now, and my experience has been that it works as advertised. I have a powered USB hub at the other end with various input devices and at times an external blu-ray drive, and I haven't had any problems with speed or reliability - except the one time I zapped my mouse with a crazy static shock, but it came back online after a second. I would prefer an extender that uses standard Cat5 cable, but the only options I see for those cost many times as much as this cable. I've tried several USB 1.1 over Cat5 extensions for about the same price, and even the best of those were less reliable - and, obviously, slower - than this cable.
