I am a professional nail tech and I use these buffers on my clients to create a shine on their natural nails.First, it should be noted that these buffers are only 3.5 inches long. In my state we are required by law to throw files away after use on a client for sanitary reasons. The small size makes them perfect for one time use.Second, these buffers are the final step in a process. In order to obtain a high gloss shine on a natural nail, sometimes a buffer with a bit more grit should be used first, especially if there are ridges in the nail, then these. If used properly, these buffers work great and I am very happy with them! The minty side is a very, very fine grit and the white side is a polishing buffer. I do prefer my nail files to be the finest grade of grit because I want only to take out snags and/or ridges without sawing down my natural nails. Files with this fine of grittiness do not take off too much nail and eave you with an unfortunate nail shape, just to get a little snag taken care of. These are not for you if you have acrylic nails or if you want to really file your nails down for work or whatever reason (when I was practicing massage therapy you have to file your nails down to the quick so you never claw a client, for example)! These are excellent for growing your nails out, filing away the minimum, and leaving a polished nail bare nail that looks beautiful on its own or makes a perfect canvas for nail art.
