Will the remote sensor work under water?

By default no. However i bought this to measure PAR in my reef tank. I tried a ziplock bag approach and the bag let some water in- but i found a trick that so far lets me fully submerge the sensor eye and protect it and measure PAR. I will add this trick is not supported by the manufacturer and will void your warranty but here goes:

1) plug the long straight cord into the sensor eye
2) use clear silicon aquarium safe caulk around the sensor eye; seam perimeter around the entire sensor; screw holes in the back of the sensor ; caulk around the female receptacle of the sensor while the cord is plugged in.
3) let that caulk cure for about 48 hours
4) get a small ziplock salad dressing container- just big enough to accommodate the sensor.
5) super glue the sensor to the bottom inside of the ziplock container
6) go to lowes or Home Depot and get 1 quart of clear epoxy resin.
7) mix a small batch of epoxy resin per instructions.
8) pour resin in ziplock container. Let the resin completely cover and surround the sensor eye.
9) let resin cure for about 24 hours- use scissors to cut away the ziplock container.
10) rinse encased sensor under the faucet.

Voila your sensor is now water proof and can be used under water without damaging the sensor- keep in mind this is 1000% permanent- once you do this - it stays like this.

But surety beats paying $500 for an apogee PAR meter. And you can still use it as a plant PAR meter as well.

Unsure of accuracy, but it is pretty comparable to the par map on any light I've tried it with
