Solar MPPT charging and DC to DC charging! *by J***N on Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2021* Decided to purchase this charger for my portable LiFeP04 battery. I needed a charger that supported lithium batteries and multiple inputs of charging (Both solar and DC to DC charging). I think this is designed for RV and Marine use mostly but I am going to use it in a portable charging setup. It's so small and compact so it will work well for my needs. It even fits in my small B&W Type 1000 case PERFECTLY, there is NO side to side play, and just about a quarter of an inch play up and down.I plan to use this charger while car camping/during emergencies to keep my LiFeP04 battery topped off while running all my DC electronics (camping shower, 12v fridges, charging flashlights, phones and cameras, laptop and so forth...). These types of chargers are very popular in the overlanding hobby. It's a complete beast and supports up to 50amps of charging! You'll need to plan ahead with your wiring in order to get that full output. In my photos you'll see I ran two 12awg wires in parallel for each connection so I can get at least 40amps charging safely. I'd need to upgrade to larger wiring to get 50amps.I will probably use the solar MPPT charge controller input the most of the time, but having the DC to DC charger available is very nice if the sun isn't around (Cloudy or nighttime). I have had multiple day stretches without sun so another function of charging really comes in handy if your battery can't be charged by the sun.Solar input supports input voltage of 10.5 – 32 Vdc and up to 50amps. It is an MPPT charge controller so its rated above 90% efficiency.DC to DC input supports 10.5 – 32 Vdc and is designed to be from a starter battery being charged by an alternator. It also supports 50amps charging.Their are three connections I decided to use on this charger.1) DC input = Power source from your starter battery/alternator. I plan to connect to my battery while my vehicle is running in order to get my at least 40amps of charging. Not the best mode of charging but when I don't have any sun this will really help out. I can also charge my battery while driving on the road with this function. My battery will be full and ready to use when I get to camp.2) Solar input = Power source directly from your solar panels. I have around 300 watts of solar and it's good to know it will support much more.3) DC output to the battery = This is where you connect your battery that you want to charge.
