## Description

Product description Atlantic Salt Other Knives can rust in peace It's been speculated the sheepfoot shaped blade originated with mariners who found the rounded tip especially beneficial when the knife was accidentally dropped (think working on a ship in pitching seas) as it couldn't stab the foot when hitting the deck. It's also been hypothesized that commanding officers on these ships preferred rambunctious hardworking sailors carry knives without pointed tips, especially while in port blowing off steam after months at sea. Spyderco's Rescue knives are long favored by seafarers and the design has since been embraced by rescue workers, EMT's and ranchers-anyone cutting around flesh in an emergency. The Atlantic Salt is a modified Rescue made with state-of-the-art, ultra-corrosion-resistant H-1 steel. The hollow-ground blade is available in SpyderEdge offering remarkable cutting performance in and around fresh and saltwater. The molded FRN handle includes a shackle key and is available in black or bright yellow and features a reversible black-coated titanium pocket clip for tip-up carry on either the left or right side. We recommend threading a thong or lanyard cord through the lanyard hole for back-up retention around water, where once dropped, a knife is often irretrievable or lost. Review: EDC capable. Built like a tank. Won't rust. - Stellar. Bought this knife for sailing for safety reasons and due to its ability to resist rust in salt water and water in general. Fell in love with the knife and believe it or not I EDC this knife now. I used to carry a flat blade and started thinking, what do I really need a knife for EDC? Open boxes? This works great. Cut paracord? Like butter. Cut cardboard. Check. Cut plastic wrapping or slice through a package? Yeah, no problem. Cut shipping tape with fiber cores? Easy. And on and on. It's been 6 months of EDC-ing this knife and I don't see a reason for a point except stabbing something which I don't have a use for. Also if you get to a car accident and need to get a seatbelt off of someone or even thick clothing off and don't have a pair of medical scissorsI have no doubt this will do the job far better than a flat blade knife, no matter how sharp. And think about it, a knife that you don't ever have to worry about rusting? That's pretty awesome. Also I love it's bright yellow color too for ease of finding while out camping and in the woods. It's the 'don't lose me' color. Just a fantastic knife. If I need a small flat blade I just go to the multi-tool, but for heavy cutting this thing rocks.
Review: Love it as my main scuba knife - This knife has been on my BCD since 2015. Salt water scuba. No rust. It goes in the water and when I get home it goes in sweet water inside the pocket of my BCD for a long soak. I never take it out to rinse it or anything else. I don't even think about it. That makes it a great scuba knife. I don't need to cut much. It's an emergency knife so I can't say how long the blade stays sharp. On occasion when I needed to cut small rope / netting left behind or small cuts on deck It worked like a charm. My setup: I have a Paracord set up tied to the knife on one end and a d ring on the other. The Paracord length allows is from the D ring to my outstretched arm. I can use the knife with my gloved hand and if I drop it it stays with me and does not get lost at sea. This way I can drop it at anytime in situations where I may need to do it quickly. I can always find the Paracord on my d ring and pull on it till the knife comes out of my pocket.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Everything I needed.
*by A***. on September 12, 2013*

I bought this knife specifically for a scuba trip in the Gulf of Mexico. It made it through a two tank dive, and 4 days of beach swimming, without so much as a speck of rust. Not just the blade, the whole knife... clip, pivot screws, locking bar... everything. I tried, too. It was NEVER rinsed with fresh water (there's still sand in it now, actually, a month later), and after the dives it was left in my dive bag for a few days. Anyways, that shouldn't be a surprise, since Spyderco flat out say that this knife will not rust, and they're not a company known for lying to their customers. The knife itself is a good design for a rescue knife, or a boating knife. I find myself carrying it when I'm going for multi-hour motorcycle tours into the middle of nowhere, or when I go to the lake it's always there with me. I found it perfectly suited for scuba diving. It stayed secure in my BC's waist belt, and the one time I used it underwater it was very easy to handle, with no risk of accidentally puncturing my BC. Would be a good option for a first responder, perfect for cutting seat belts, clothes, dense cloth, etc. all without the risk of accidental puncture wounds. Would also be a good option for boat knife, as there is a lower risk of drop-related injuries, and it excels at cutting rope. However, this is not a good EDC knife, and I do not carry it on a regular basis. It is a specialized tool for specific jobs, and it seems to excel at those jobs. So far, edge retention has been rather good. I sharpen it on a Sharpmaker, and it gets sharp enough to push-cut receipt paper, then stays that way for a good while. I would put it on par with VG-10.
