Great Buy
This knife was everything I wanted it to be! The sleekness of a Shun with the utility purposes of a paring knife. I loved this design because it is light and easy to handle. The plastic handle and price range is the reason for my purchase. A solid knife with the ability to stay sharp and well kept but able to take the beating out everyday paring knives do.

Light, Comfortable, Holds An Edge... Perfect!
This is my second Shun Sora knife, also I got one last Christmas. I have made most of my family food at home for 40+ years, so I know what a difference a good, sharp knife brings to the chopping table (pun included). I had a decent brand of German stainless steel (X50CrMoV15) knifes, but I was constantly sharpening them and yes, I do sharpen with a high-quality whetstone. I was concerned about the handles at first, so it appeared to feel a little on the less expensive side and the next level of Shun was more than I wanted to pay, but this synthetic handle is more antimicrobial, so itโs better for sanitary care. If you use a hand sharpener it might scratch the sides of your blade. I keep mine on a magnetic strip in my kitchen that caused a few scratches, but I was able to buff them out. These keep an edge longer the any of my other knifes.

Worth every cent!
This has become my โgo toโ knife, everything about this knife is perfect, the feel, the way it cuts, the balance and the sharpness. If I could only have 1 knife, this would be it!

Beyond com-pare, sorry
You wonโt regret getting this. Super sharp, not too small, not too big, obviously a higher order paring knife and since thatโs the kind of knife I use the most, why not splurge ?

Gorgeous, Sharp, but not as nice as the Classic
I got this knife as a present for my mother in law who is learning to cook, but doesn't want something overly fancy. This knife is super sharp, comfortable to hold and beautiful to look at. It comes out of the box ready to make paper thin slices, which is really fun. My only concern is the durability. It is not a full-tang knife, which for the price is totally fine. Eventually, I worry that it might have to be replaced. With that said, it comes with a lifetime guarantee, so if it breaks at some point, it can just be replaced. Overall, it is a total bargain and I loved using it. If you have the extra money, go for the Shun classic. If not, this is a great knife at a great price.

The perfect paring knife for the money
This is easily the best paring knife for the money. Hands down. Simple decision. This is my fourth Shun knife and by far the cheapest as I believe the average cost was about $129 with one double that. This was on sale for under $40. I have a number of paring knives and use them mostly for slicing and dicing smaller vegetables like peppers and potatoes. Lately my knifes had been tearing the skin of some veggies a bit and I assumed it was time to buy a new blade or two. I forgot what a truly sharp blade can do for my prep work. The easiest way to explain it is I donโt hear a thing as I slice potatoes and jalapeรฑos and similar items. The knife just slides through. I can not recommend this enough.

A must have for people who like cooking
Loooooove this knife. Makes food prep such a pleasurable task. You never know how annoying it is to slice veggies until you use a properly sharp knife to do the job. Once you try a good, sharp kitchen knife, there is no going back. It's like a light-saber though butter. Plus, the water pattern in the blade steel looks gorgeous. So to sum up: Pros: Beautiful and sharp, and easy to hone and sharpen with a little practice Cons: Plastic handle, but this is more a note than a true con. Makes care a little easier than with a wood handled knife, and feels like very thick and sturdy plastic.

Torn up box
I was very upset with the way my package arrived, when you pay a high price for a high end knife and it comes all ratty in a box, the box was ripped, and I am unsure if the knife is ok Iโll probably be sending it back, it was the one gift my husband would be getting as he loves his kitchen knives and this one looks like I dug it out of a garage sale, embarrassing to say the least, Iโll be returning it and order a different knife for his Feb BD.

Crazy glue first aid on hand
Wow this knife is really sharp out of the box and cuts quickly. Seldom to I need to use glue to close the cuts. This paring knife is expensive . I am replacing numerous knives that will not hold an edge, proving this knife economical.
