In the end, I sent the Commuter back. The Symmetry is just that much sleeker, and comparatively offers the exact same level of drop protection. The Symmetry won because: 1. its and all in one unit 2. the unit appears more seamless 3. the Commuter is actually two separable pieces that combine to make the one sturdy case. A rubber inner and a hard outer shell. And while the Commuter offers more protection (has a flip-down/up piece that fully protects the lightening charging port - speakers are still exposed), it didn't feel as comfortable as the Symmetry. And as for that rubber inner, well, I could tell that over time, with taking the case off and on, it would become more and more flimsy, same with the charging port cover. 4. the back of the Commuter has a hard suggestive military look to its design, and too many indentations, whereby the Symmetry was just flat and smooth from top to bottom.
