So GLAD I was able to replace my old Black & Decker battery! The 40 Volt power tools are GREAT, but it's so much better to have a back-up! Now I can work on my landscaping, knowing I'll be able to finish the job with a 2nd battery on the charger, just in case! Black & Decker makes great tools, and 40 Volts keep them running!

This 2.0Ah (80Wh) B&D 40V max battery model LBX2040 has worked fine for my string trimmer since I purchased the battery in 2019. Manufacturing year on the case is 2018. Yesterday it died while my husband was using it, and he couldn't get it off the string trimmer and left both out overnight. Today I got the battery off no problem, but it was hot on one side and so was the string trimmer handle. I was hoping it was just from being in the sun, and it may have been, but even after allowing some hours for it to cool down, it goes straight to fast-red blink on both of my fast chargers. On the slow charger that came with the string trimmer, it flashes green for a moment, but then goes to fast red blinking. A half an hour later as I'm composing this, the green period is now slightly longer than before and one of the fast chargers briefly flashed green as well, so I'm hoping it just needs to cool longer. I will update if I resurrect it by just waiting. The 72Wh LBXR2036 (also 40V max) that came with the string trimmer, manufactured in 2014, is still going strong. The 60Wh, 1.5Ah LBX1540 was manufactured in 2021 and is also still working. I tried an aftermarket 3.0Ah model and it was always a bit flaky with the chargers and died within 6 months. So, 3x the price but 8x the longevity means B&D for the win here.

Bought this as a second battery for my trimmer and blower. The two devices come in a set but, unfortunately, only one battery is included. What can you say about a battery? Well, it holds its charge and provides the expected run time. Oh, one thing I've noticed. The first few times charging seemed to take forever. Now I am noting that the charge cycle is quicker and the battery run time is longer. I was thinking of getting a quick charger but now, I find it to be unnecessary.

I already had one 4-year old LBX36 36V battery (1.3Ah, 46.8Wh)and two 2-year old LBXR 40V white batteries (54Wh; one Type 2 and one Type 4). I wanted another backup battery to make it easy to complete the two to three hour leaf cleanup sessions of the season using the charger to continually charge expended batteries. Since my 3-year old charger was on the fritz, I also bought a new charger. This new model black 40V 2.0Ah battery charges quickly and lasts a lot longer than I expected. Yes, the other batteries are older and have less capacity, so that may have influenced my experience and expectations. The battery works well in all of my B&D 36V or 40V tools: grass trimmer, hedge clipper, and leaf blower/vac. Pricey battery, but it helps to make my yard cleanup easy.
