Oceanic Tarot: Includes a full deck of specially commissioned tarot cards and a 64-page illustrated book Review: Beautiful and recommended - So, art first I was a tiny bit disappointed in this deck when I got it, but now I love it. I had waited for months for it to come out and the cards looked as if they were magical and beautiful when i previewed them online. I had not seen the minor arcana cards, only major. Those were gorgeous and I'm a Pisces who loves the ocean and mermaids, etc. So I was instantly drawn to them. When they arrived, first off, they came in a very sturdy, practical sized box that fits the deck and guidebook. Total bonus, hard, sturdy box, fits nicely, not too big, and beautiful pictures. The book is just as colorful as the cards, every page is beautiful. So then the cards, at first I was very disappointed when I saw the minor arcana as they were very basic and not different for each suit. After a while though, they grew on me because of the beauty of the actual symbol on the cards. The major arcana, LOVED FROM THE BEGINNING!!! Beautiful! Each one is colorful and whimsical. Next, the cards are bigger cards that were a bit difficult to hold in my shorter hands. The cards are thinner than most (and to be honest a bit flimsy) but they shuffle easy and were easy to learn to hold after breaking them in a bit. The only other complaint is the edges are slightly peeling in the corners after a few uses, not bad, but noticeable. I own many decks and books so I understand the minors without the symbolism need as in older decks, so the guide book is a must for beginners. Which I actually found for being a thinner book, it was beautiful, Colorful and contained really good basic understandings for each card. It sums up the meanings quite well I think! Which is great for beginners. It gives a basic meaning, a bit of advice and some keywords. I also love that the creator is a marine biologist (I believe) who created this deck for the life of the sea and all its beauty, all while out on the open water on a boat in the ocean. It makes me feel a bit more connected to this deck, rather than the basic many decks that are just churned out yearly by other deck creators. So at first, slightly disappointed, but I really, really LOVE THIS DECK now. It's also insanely accurate and I connected immediately with the readings and spreads i was getting and trying. All in all, It's beautiful, easy to use, easy to shuffle, has a great guide book, info on the deck and tarot meanings. Plus, heavy duty box, again, big bonus in case you don't have a wooden box, etc to site them in! I recommend this deck absolutely. Oh and they changed a few of the major arcana names such as death, etc. I think, but no big deal. Love it Review: Lovely deck! - A beautiful deck that not only looks good but reads easily and captures ethnicity and male and female energy. Yes the minors are pip style with no human elements and are repeating symbols to represent the number but it really works well. I find that the stunning illustrations of the majors stand out in a reading even more because of the understated pip cards, which to me are still gorgeous. This deck is very watery and positive and will resonate deeply if you have a connection to the ocean or sea life but will probably appeal to anyone who loves vibrant colors. The keywords that are used on each card are not intrusive or distracting at all but help to add depth. Great for personal readings and insight. Only used it a few times and it has become a favorite!

My Favorite Deck!
The artwork is so incredibly beautiful! The blues, greens, and purples make you really feel like you're in the ocean when you're doing a reading. But what really makes this deck pop is the full-color guide which is chock full of information! I'm a newbie to tarot and this was my first deck and I connected with it immediately. I love mermaids and the ocean and I really feel them connecting with me when I use this deck. I love the fact that the cards are glossy. That makes the images pop. Yes for the first few shuffles they stuck together but after that they shuffled just fine. Some people complained that the author doesn't do reversals, and honestly I don't mind that at all. You can do them if you want and just look up the meanings online, but to me, the energy of this deck is positive and should stay positive. I ended up buying a different deck to do reversals with and want this one to stay light. I can't gush enough on how beautiful and amazing this deck is. I highly recommend it, especially if it's your first deck.

The artwork is gorgeous.
This is a beautiful deck with soft & dreamy colors. The artwork is truly stunning! I wish the pip cards had been individually done because swords & coins just don't quite fit in the aquatic scenery, but I am not being critical since I am not an artist. I can only imagine how difficult it would be to come up with an entire deck of tarot scenes. The cards are a bit large for my hands, making it harder to shuffle, but I think my hands are smaller. I have found other decks hard to shuffle & no one else commented. Anyway, the pictures are so pretty & really well done. I'm very glad I bought this deck. It is an amazing addition to my collection. The books gives some unique insight into the meanings of the cards & I found some comfort in the 7 of Swords of all things, an unexpected new twist that helped me understand a recent problem.

These cards are GORGEOUS and helpful!
I don't do a lot of reviews but I had to show gratitude for this gorgeous deck! When I was learning about tarot one women said you must pick a deck that speaks to you and I love all things ocean so this definitely spoke to me! I have a traditional deck but this one will help me learn what all those cards actually mean a lot easier than the other book I have..this one even comes with a beautiful book with thorough and easy to understand interpretations of each card and the cards themselves give a lot more explanation than traditional cards. I will save these and try them right away!

Beautiful images, very creative. But no pip card illustrations.
I had looked at this deck online but it wasn't until I watched a youtube review of it that I decided to purchase it. The person who made the video was so in love with these cards that I could not resist! I grew up near the water, the sea is part of me, and the idea of this deck really spoke to my soul. The illustrations use beautiful azure blue, turquoise, purple, green, violet, and other watery colors, more illustrative of the Caribbean than, say, the Atlantic Ocean, which would need darker shades and more grays, browns, dark greens. There is a vitality to the cards, they are filled with swirling life and very beautiful, though lacking in a lot of detail, which might be a good thing in some ways. One gets a feel for the card's clear, pure energy without having to interpret too many symbols. In addition to the card name, a single key word is printed on the card, though additional key words are offered in the booklet. However, the fact that only the Major Arcana and Court Cards have full illustrations presents a difficulty for the beginner, or for someone who might not use this deck often and thus memorize all the meanings. The Pip cards show only the sea creature assigned to that suit-- say, a Sea Turtle for Pentacles (the other suits use sea horses, sharks, and dolphins) plus the requisite number of symbols for that suit. So, the Three of Pentacles shows a sea turtle and three pentacles, nothing more. This is the case for all the pip cards, which means that unless you have memorized all the meanings of those cards, you will be referring to the book a lot. I also don't like this approach because if you are doing a reading for someone else, they do not have the opportunity to use a fuller illustration to help them in their own understanding. And the descriptions of the meanings of the cards in the book are hard to grasp when there is no picture. For example, it makes no sense to say the 5 of Pentacles is a difficult or sad card when there is no illustration! I reeeaally wish the pip cards were illustrated. The other pictures are so lovely and I want more! This is the only reason I give this deck 4 stars instead of 5. The accompanying booklet is very well written, says a lot in few words, and makes the meanings of the cards crystal clear. It has an upbeat, encouraging feeling and offers much more than the usual little white booklet many decks come with, and some original spreads. It does offer a color picture of each card which is nice. The back of the cards shows a rainbow-like wave with fish jumping in it, very beautiful (but be aware they are one-directional in case you use reversals. I don't, and the book does not discuss them). The box is extremely well made, one of the best commercial tarot boxes I've seen. It's very sturdy and a nice compact size. I never keep my cards in the original box they came in because they are invariably cheaply made, floppy, too big, or whatever. This box would have been an exception and I would happily have used it to store my cards, except for one thing. There is an inner piece of cardboard that holds the book and the keeps the cards nicely in place in a recessed area as long as the cards are shrink-wrapped. But once you remove the plastic, if you place the cards back in the recessed area designed for them, they slip through and fall into the larger area within the box. This could easily have been prevented and enabled the lovely box to have been used for permanent storage. I hope in a future edition, the creators of the deck will decide to illustrate the pip cards fully. This deck is still extremely appealing and I look forward to working with it. A very creative idea and obviously a lot of thought went into this deck and into the booklet.

A lovely whimsical high quality set...
Very good quality. Superb box (my favorite tarot box style so far) and great card stock. The colors are just gorgeous. The art is whimsical and appeals to my inner teenager. The size is great. The booklet is really nice. I am happy with this and find it a fun set. The price is right. 5.10.17 I originally bought this when it was still winter. It wasn't really something I was working with and wasn't really getting into. The other day I was walking past my pool and realized it was the exact aqua in the cards. It was a really sunny day and I thought of these. I pulled them out. The energy was just spectacular. This is a deck to take to any place you are spending time by the water and in the sunshine or need that feeling in your day. 8.30.17 It is interesting how some decks really grow on you. This is one of my favorite decks. Some about it is just fresh and wonderful. I edited my first set and cut it down to a more easily workable deck...and then I bought a second deck to leave as is. If you are thinking about buying this set...it is worth having in your collection. The colors used are luminous and refreshing in their own right.
