Unfortunately we are unable to comment on what brand of card protective sleeves are better since it is a matter of personal preference. 
As for solo play Dark Nights Metal does not have a solo player mode.

**Q: Will there be booster packs or expansions for this product?**
A: The Dark Knight Metal is a full expansion on its own. There will likely not be another Dark Knight Metal themed expansion released. However, all of the Cryptozoic DC Deckbuilding games can be combined and mixed. So, you can play with the Dark Knight Metal rules using either the base game or most of the full or partial expansions.
