"Boldly go where no one has gone before" as an all-new Enterprise, under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, takes off on "it's continuing mission" in the hit syndicated TV series that ran from 1987-1994. Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, Gates McFadden, Michael Dorn, Marina Sirtis, LeVar Burton, and Brent Spiner star.176 episodes on 48 discs. 137 1/4 hrs. Standard; Soundtrack: English. Review: BluRay is the Best - I watched this series in the 80's and again in the early 2000's on Netflix. Very uplifting and inspiring series. I never realized how great BluRay is as a format. It's crystal clear and you can see such detail in each episode too. The only critique I have is the design of the containers and the fact they're not full screen. The remote allows you to zoom in so that you get full screen, but it blocks some of the image. Also, whomever designed the DVD containers tried to squeeze all the episodes into two boxes. The discs are snapped in place, two on top of the other and you can get kind of lost in finding what season and episode you are looking for. Other than that, this is a great set. Much much better than dealing with Paramount's slow-streaming, subscription service and Pluto too. Review: Blu-Ray is an Absolute Mastery! - Blu-Ray Quality Second to None! As you can see in the pictures (screenshots from the behind the scenes footage included on the blu-ray), the standard tapes that were used for the original airing on tube tv's of the 80's was terrible quality. CBS/Paramount spent millions to painstakingly restore the series frame by frame from the original negatives and put the series back together again, remastering color, detail, etc. It is more vibrant than ever and it must be seen on the big screen to be believed. I guarantee, if you saw the original airing on tube TV back in the 80's/90's like I did, this will knock your socks off. Only the Blu-Ray has been restored. Don't waste your money on the DVD version as it has not been restored and is the same quality on Netflix and what airs weekly on TV. If you don't own a Blu-Ray player and are considering this set, buy a Blu-Ray player with the Blu-Ray version of Star Trek TNG and experience the series the way no one has seen it before. Packaging: Comments about lack of quality, scratched discs, etc are mainly from users who have purchased the DVD version. DVD's are prone to scratching with just the lightest touch. Blu-Ray on the other hand uses a much more durable surface material that is resistant to scuffs and scratches. Withthat said, the discs fit nice and tight in their holders. Almost too tight as some discs are very difficult to remove. But I'd rather have them tight and snug than too lose and risk them falling out. Story: The story of STTNG needs no introduction or explanation, but for those who have not been fortunate enough to have seen it before, it is in my opinion the greatest series in the Star Trek franchise. It doesn't feel like a soap opera in the sense that the story from each episode does not flow from one to the next, except in two-part episodes of course. But the character development through the series is amazing and the dynamics that each of crew have with each other is amazing. There is love, there is anger, there is struggle, there is frustration, but as with any family, these are normal stages of living. What is most important is the bond they develope over the course of the series that you know no matter what, each person has the back of their shipmates. The series never gets dull as there are new friends and foes to be made throughout the series. And this is the series that the infamous Borg are first developed into the archnemesis of the Federation! If I could, I'd rate this series an 11 out of 10! Quality is unmatched in any Star Trek series aside from the new ones of the 21st century. This is a must for any Star Trek fan new to the series or lifelong fans. And as of this writing, the series on Blu-Ray is at an all-time low price, so grab it now before it goes up again! You can't get a better deal anywhere!

I hate the case. Love the show!
Listen to what the title says. This case is garbage. Disk are constantly falling out every time I open the case. They tried to stack a bunch of desk on top of each other to save space and it is not working. First thing you should do is take all of the disk out and put them in a dvd binder or case. And for the show if you haven't watched it yet. Go and check it out. The Blu ray version looks so much better. No more distortions or fuss. Everyone looks so clear and HD. Especially the CGI scenes when it shows the enterprise from space. I'm about to buy all the rest of the Star Trek shows on Blu rays.

Nice set.
Great series, and it's nice to have them all together. It plays in US players. The one negative is how they designed the discs to lay on top of each other, 2 per side, so you have to remove the front disc to get the back disc.

Great Show - AWFUL Packaging design
I really enjoy this series. It’s a great cast; mostly great storylines - in seven seasons there are obviously ones I enjoy more than others. I did watch them all when they were first aired; and have started rewatching - almost all of the shows hold up over time. But you probably know all that if you’re considering buying the entire set. What you want to know is that the packaging is horrible. It is compact and probably space saving on its own, but only because they crammed 8 disks to a sleeve. To get to season one disk four, you have to remove disks 1-3, and either leave them out or remove them again to put away in order. Some of the disks were so tightly snapped in, I was afraid they would break trying to get them out. And several disks were just loose inside the box…You definitely need to buy a different storage solution if you plan on enjoying watching these! The other issue I have is the disks are essentially identical with low contrast lettering - a solid light blue with silver letters to tell you the season and disk number. Probably okay for most people; but almost impossible for me to distinguish one disk from another, with my bad eyesight. The lettering on seasons 1-6 is just barely big enough for me to read. For some unknown reason season seven’s lettering is maybe half the size at best…Another reason a different storage solution is needed - I can put them 1 to a sleeve, in show order; and I might even label the pockets themselves. (I bought a 120 pocket library; because am planning to add DS9 & Enterprise, and kind of assuming they will have similar issues…) I bought the 41 disk BluRay set. Am happy with picture and sound quality and have not had any playback issues so far. Will update when I’ve watched them all - getting ready to start Season Five Disk One (if I read it right! Haha)

Excellent Collection
I'll skip the review of individual seasons and episodes because they've been covered by other reviewers. However, there has been a lot of problems with the condition of the discs in recent blu-ray orders. I just received the repackaged STNG collection and it is excellent. The box was sealed in plastic, undamaged, and though it arrived in a padded paper bag, all the discs were on their proper pegs, in order by season. Neither of the two plastic boxes were broken, nor were any of the posts or other interior elements. Each disc is in immaculate condition. There's no way I'll be able to view all 42 discs before the return period is up, so I did a random check and found no errors. The quality is high and it is fun to see STNG in such sharp detail. The discs play very nicely with my 13 year old Blu-Ray player. The menu is quite straight forward. You can play all the episodes on each disc in sequence, or one at a time, and the choices are very clear. Because multiple discs are on each peg, I ordered a 48 page DVD wallet (which came in the same order) and carefully removed each disc without scratching or otherwise marring the playing surfaces, and put them in the sleeves of the wallet. They are easier to remove and replace, even in a poorly lit room, without a big fight. It was hard to do because I have a collecting impulse, but I threw the cover box and two plastic holding boxes out. I first removed the paper insert covers of the two, which contain the names of the episodes on each disc. I had to fold them to put them in the disc wallets, but I reminded myself that the box and inserts are really not collectible. My intent is to play the series as often as I want, and then pass it on to my children. The discs aren't foreign knock-offs. If you hold them up to the light, you can see the CBS and Paramount logos within/on the discs. The repackaged collection is less expensive that the tin box version. There's no point in spending a lot of money on a box unless you intend on never opening the package. I'll never replace the discs on the pegs as it would be a pain, and potentially damaging to the disc surfaces. I received the collection In a very short time. Excellent!

Good purchase
Debated dvd vrs blue ray. Have ds9 on dvd and it’s perfectly fine, feels like watching it back when came out in the 90’s. Having next gen on blue ray is like watching it on paramount. The picture is great but can see the flaws that original over air picture quality didn’t see so much. Still happy went with blue ray. Heck if voyager and ds9 had blue ray I’d have got those as well instead of regular dvd probably. But happy with this blue ray for sure, the colors are better, crisper picture. Worth it over dvd seto

The best Star Trek series ever
At last I get to see the full series, I was working away on the road when this first aired. Now I get to see it in Hi-Def.
