the suction isn't great, but it's battery operated and safe
I was hesitant to buy this for my 2 year old son's birthday because about the reviews of it not being very durable and being cheaply made. I went ahead and bought it anyways because of my son's obsession with our vacuum and push toys in general. I was pleasantly surprised!! It is exactly what you would expect for a toy vacuum. No, the suction isn't great, but it's battery operated and safe. Sure, some of the pieces fall off, but that's what happens when you bang plastic against the wall with brute force. The front piece has actually only fell off once on us and that was after a hard hit against the wall. It took a whole 3 seconds to attach it right back on. This was my son's favorite birthday toy and he plays with it for hours! Very happy with this toy--his 3 year old and 6 year old brother love it, too.

Kids LOVE IT
I read some reviews prior to buying and was disturbed to see parents saying the suction sucks.. Um it's a toy, it's not meant for you lazy parents to put your kids to actual work and clean your house while you sit on your butts eating Bon bons.. Seriously? Suction sucks? Seriously? Who is getting a toy vacuum to have their kid actually vacuum? Child labor is illegal here folks. Hire a maid! So anyways into the review. The vacuum looks like my real dyson (which I use to vacuum not my kids ha). My son follows me around the entire house with his dyson to "vacuum" it's fun and hilarious. He vacuums everyday with his little dyson and my daughter and him both love to play with this! My kids are 19 months and 3. I definitely recommend it.

Arrived broken/without suction but works great after fixing it!
My almost 4 year old son LOVES VACUUMS. He wanted this DC14 to add to his collection of Dyson toys, as well as other real vacuums too lol. Now, if it weren't for my husband being an electrician & knowing how to fix this DC14 toy... I would've given it 2-3 stars. Because it flat out did not work when we got it. There was no suction because the the wires inside weren't even connected! He had to take it apart & solder it back together & modified the motor/fan in the process to make it have more suction. After doing so, this Dyson toy now has the most suction of all of them, more than the DC35 stick/cordless and more than the Cinetic ball! The brush head does fall off periodically but it snaps back on no problem. So this one is currently our son's favorite! The hose attachments have bigger openings too meaning they can suck up more at a time. But Im not sure it would've been a favorite had my husband not modified it. And it also didn't work at all! Lol so that's something to keep in mind.. it has the potential to be awesome if you understand electronics/motors and want to take the time to fix it.

garbage
Bought this for my 18 month old son who is obsessed with vacuums. I read all the reviews.. and decided to purcahse it anyway despite negative reviews. Bad mistake. It has that generic plastic squeaky sound, the on/off switch is impossible for a child to use (granted the product is recommended for 3 and up, but even then, I think it would be to hard for a 3 year old), it doesnt have any suction, which i expected anyway but the product says that it does, and it broke the day after he opened it. Two pieces broke off. It is way smaller than I expected which was fine because I figured he would be able to use it more that way. There is NO way an eight year old would even play with this small toy (the age the package recommends) All in all... worst present I bought for my son. I never write reviews on anything, in fact, this is the first time. I usually just deal with the fact that its just a "toy" and its going to get ruined anyway.. but I felt I should help some people not even waste their time!

Better Than Yellow Dyson
I purchased this after first buying and returning the yellow ball Dyson vacuum. This one is not perfect but it is much better than the other one. Pros: - stands up on its on own - easy for a toddler to push and roll - has attachments and removable hose/wand to give it extra "functions" (but this is a con too, see below) - vacuum motor sounds are quiet and not annoying - battery compartment is more securely attached (was issue on the other model) Cons: - does not actually suck up anything (which doesn't really matter but it was advertised to have real suction) - front bottom plastic piece occasionally falls off but it is easy to put back on, I just hope it doesn't wear out the plastic tabs that hold it in place over time - wheels squeak which can be a little annoying for adults after a while - sometimes the colored confetti doesn't spin around, I think perhaps due to static buildup - biggest con is that the hose/wand is difficult to pull out of the handle and put back, and has to be done by an adult. Also the hose itself easily detaches from the handle piece or bottom bin of the vacuum during this process. It is easy enough to replace but I think the plastic tabs that hold the two ends in place could wear out over time. The hose needs to be about 1-2 inches longer or have a little more give to it to avoid this issue. Overall I am much happier with this Dyson than the other one, but wish it was a little less expensive (i think $20 would be a fair price). It would be great if they would fix the two main issues (front plastic piece falling off and the accessory hose being difficult to pull out and then falling off), and just get rid of the real suction feature since it doesnt work anyway and could probably help the hose stay better attached). 3.5 stars would be my rating.

Joy
My young grandson would get his mom's vacuum out many times a day and pretend to clean the floors. I got him this Dyson toy and he is so happy with it! He and his sisters use it many times a day!, they love the different functions and attachments.

Great for little guy!
This is a great toy. The first one we got didn't work right--the battery holder didn't have all the conductors. But amazon replaced it easily, and the working one is great! My son loves it. He was 14 months when we got it for him so its a little tall for him, but he makes it work. He's 16 months now. My pediatrician says kids are in this cleaning phase until only 18 months so hopefully he will continue to get use out of it as he gets older! There is one piece that has come off on both vacuums that was small enough to put in his mouth--a circle of plastic where the hose attaches to the vacuum, but we took it off and the vacuum works fine.

Junk, junk, junk
It arrived in the mail today, and by the night I still can't figure out how to work the thing. So much for the 3-year-old being able to do that... It rides terribly on most surfaces and gets caught due to a poor design on the head. The plastic is very cheap, and the hose look like it'd break very quickly. The battery door is hard to open, and the screw nearly stripped. My normal screwdriver barely worked. I guess they expect you to have fancy tools to do this? I see no evidence of the choking hazards listed on the box, which worries me because perhaps parts might fall off and I wouldn't know before the baby finds them? The on button is not the easiest to work, and it's too loud on high! I worry about hearing loss with this product. It's not clear where to put the on board tools. The instructions as well are very, very poor. Dyson should be ashamed of this. Owning this makes me sure I don't think I ever want a real Dyson. This vacuum is plenty cute, as in you could put it in a museum and it'd make a great display. But to play with it? I don't think it will last, and it was [...]! The simple toy Dirt Devil upright is much better, and about [...]I think. This product made me have one of those "I can't believe I spent good money on total junk" kind of days. Sigh.

Poor quality already broken
Doesn’t work like a real dyson only sucks air from the pipe not from the bottom of the vacuum. Started making a loud noise on 2nd day of having it and also the front part constantly falls off. Waste of money
