Yes, it does clean and preserve your electronic contacts
The Peca Battery Contact Cleaner and Preserver is a pen-like object with a felt tip. It smells as if the cleaner/preserver is orange oil or a citrus-based oil product. It does clean tarnished and dirty battery contacts--AND the contacts which the batteries touch. Using these for several years, I've found Peca also retards the build-up of dirt or tarnish. It's certainly an inexpensive way to make sure your batteries are performing optimally in your electronic devices.

I like that many electronic that werent working so well or not at all responded instantly to this being applied.

Works to clean out battery compartments
Arrived today, July 2 - thanks for the prompt shipment. *** I'm a repeat customer of this contact cleaner pen (bought the 1st time from a different source). I keep it in the box with my AA, AAA, and button battery supplies. It's perfect if the old battery(ies) have had any leaks, and I have to clean up the compartment and the terminals before installing the new battery. Was a little difficult to find on Amazon, since the name on the pen has "BATTERY SAVER" written on it in large letters, but if you search on "battery saver" you get a lot of other stuff but not this item. Anyhow, I did a Google image search and tracked it down. Also, very reasonable price for how much use I expect to get out of it.

I use this product at work when customers have problems with their cameras, and so I clean their battery contacts, and then the camera comes back to life when the contacts are clean...
