This works
Once adjusted, it just worked. Positively & reliably. There is some "magic" in this design. Can't tell how it works. It looks like there is nothing wrong with the old one, but that one didn't work properly

I have a great plumber but I can't call and spend $ on ...
I have a great plumber but I can't call and spend $ on everything that goes wrong in my old house. So when I can, I try to jump in and fix a problem. Such a case was when my Gerber air flush toilet (with a Sloan Flushmate 503 in the tank) suddenly stopped flushing and would not stop running unless I turned off the water supply. With a quick online search and a look in the tank, I figured out that the actuator stem had snapped - not salvageable and not anything you can rig up. It was a life saver to have this actuator replacement kit available from the manufacturer for order on Amazon with express delivery. (Surprisingly, my local big box hardware stores only offer this online. If I'm going that route, I'll use Amazon.) The part came on time and contained all replacement parts that might wear out - the actuator, an inlet filter, and duck bill valve. In short order, thanks to the clear instructions and easy to install pieces, I had everything replaced and my toilet was working perfectly again. I'm going to order another kit to have on hand. I strongly recommend that anyone with a Sloan Flushmate do the same - it's a small investment and easy to store kit.

Relatively Easy to Install
Toilet kept running and some googling told me I should replace this cartridge. Was able to install after watching a YouTube video but note that it does take some time to make sure the installation depth is correct!

Works like a charm
I accidentally bough a knock off Sloan Flushmate which never really worked and died within a week. This item threaded in easily, and the whole installation was a breeze. I did the Sloan Flushmate recall at the same time. (It adds a pressure regulator to keep the tank from exploding. Something that's probably worth doing.) This new cartridge flushes with the lightest of touches. It is a breeze to flush now. I did buy the plastic Sloan Flushmate install tool. It is so worth the $10 or so, even if it is a one time use. The tool fits in a corner of the toilet tank, which seems to be a great place to store it for whenever this cartridge needs replacing. The original cartridge lasted over fifteen years, so I am sure that I won't find the tool in fifteen years, if I don't hide it in the tank.

Easy to Install Flushmate Flush Valve replacement
We have 3 bathrooms in our house that use the Flushmate Flush Valve. The last time we ended up replacing one, we called the plumber and ended up with $250 bill that included labor and the part. So this time when one started to go out, I started researching and watching you tube videos online. At first, it was a little intimidating, but for the huge savings, I was willing to try. We ordered the part, and it came well packaged with the instructions clear on the packaging. For additional information, I would play/pause an instructional video we found online from the company. Suprisingly, It ended up being very easy to replace and probably took about 20-30 minutes (but that was with us (my husband and I) watching the video as we were doing the installation). We have had the new part in for almost 2 months and have had no issues with the product. I am so glad that we tried it and saved tons of money.

Installation
Product was great! solved problem. The only issue is in installation. I had to watch YouTube videos to understand how to truly install this product as it is not straight forward. I would recommend keeping/ordering the specialty wrenches with this product and be careful working with it or the threads/plastic fins will break if you put too much pressure in tightening it. You have to install it slowly; a 1/2 turn at a time; and you have to reintroduce water to the flushmate system as you are tightening down on the value to install it. It took me about 20 different tries to get the timing and the installation correct between installing the value--adding water---and when the valve is sitting correctly with a full tank of water. However, once you have experience installing these valves it will be easier. Just take your time, follow the instruction; and watch you tube videos before you attempt to replace it. If you just take out and replace the value its not going to work.

Stopped working after 3 months!
Our original flush valve cartridge lasted over 10 years and the o-rings finally wore out. This caused water to continue running after flushing and ran up our water bill. So I purchased this replacement back in February, followed the DYI instructions that Sloan/Flushmate has on YouTube and the problem was resolved. 3 months later, the original problem returned, but this time because top o-ring seal on the button started leaking! A family member of ours is a plumber and finally managed to stop by and check out the toilet. They confirmed that I installed the cartridge properly and came to the same conclusion that I did. The new cartridge is defective! I noticed that some others who left reviews mentioned that they recieved different cartridges. Perhaps I recieved one of the cheap knockoffs? Im not sure. All i know is that this new cartridge has already ceased to work properly and the seller/Amazon can only replace within 30 days, so I'm stuck having to buy a new one again. I contacted Sloan to see if they could do anything about this, but haven't heard back from them yet.
