Having researched other wireless home security systems, I opted for simplisafe for price and reading good reviews initially. Everything came carefully packed and just felt good quality. The system came with a installation manual ( surprisingly), or you can follow the very easy to follow step by step installation via the simplisafe app*, I had my system up and running in less than 2hrs. Tips, plan beforehand where you want your sensors and door contacts, it helps speed up the install process. *If your going to install using the app, check your mobile phone is able to accept the simlisafe app download, mine phone was not because it was a few years old,so I used my wife's more current iPhone. You are not obliged to opt for the monitoring package subscription if you don't want , but can opt in at a later date. We are really pleased with this system, and I would fully recommend you consider this system if your thinking of upgrading or installing for the first time.

Excellent product, lots of add one available. Took less than 20 mins to install basics. But... Pick your service package from the start, for me upgrading caused glitches. Staff sorted it and were incredibly helpful and technically sound. Also cameras a bit harder, needs a smartphone app, and be sure to have them near the base station to pair with system before installing, and definitely check for software updates before installing them. If you do these then they are quite impressive. You need a good WiFi signal and you will need to charge the internal outdoor batteries for about 8 hours. Night vision and sensors for movement really decent. We have 4 cats and they have not set off the ir sensors at all yet, but watch the settings and placement, the instructions are clear and sensible. Handy chime when alarm off to announce protected doors etc being opened, internal camera has privacy shutter for "at home" setting. Lots of optional plug ins, including smoke alarm, water leak and temperature sensors and panic buttons. If twinned with full service package the security staff can (with your consent) check the cameras, spot the problem and direct correct emergency services having confirmed real incident. Also nice to be able to check cameras from the app, and get alerts of motion etc to check complete with video clips. Had a laugh at a helpful Amazon delivery driver who left parcels in the waterproof cat house pod in the garden and clearly found the cat "pod" highly amusing.

SimpliSafe products look great and are very easy to install. With the premium monitoring subscription, they provide a reassuring sense of security. However, the cameras are disappointing — the network range is weak (a £20 camera at the back of my garden performed better), and the connection is often unreliable. Video isn't my main concern, but if it's important to you, I wouldn't recommend this solution.

Fantastic system that’s very easy to install, no issues with battery life after 6 months. Very easy to connect and no loss of connection. Alarm triggers consistently with motion / door openings. Makes my family feel very safe.

Easy to set up works with older cameras and sensors from older versions

Easy to set up with plenty of removable double sided tape locations on each device/sensor. Really easy to synchronise all device/sensors on entry pad. Suggest you place all sensors before starting synchronise as it lists each and everyone really quickly,made me rush around a lot. Alarm is a doodle to work,instructions are clear and concise. And instead of a very annoying beeping that gets faster as you are trying to leave as on ADT you get a minute countdown instead. The bargain of the pack is the camera,good quality and live on mobile even when I am out at work. The only downside to it all is that you only get 1 motion sensor per order. I have 2 entrances so it cost me £30 to get another one. The 13 pack order would have had too many unused items to be viable.

EDIT: For the reasons outlined below, I packed away my SimpliSafe system in favour of Ring (purchased on sale). For most use cases I think Ring is a far more suitable option. I’ve had SimpliSafe installed in my new flat for over a month now. The system itself is pretty excellent. The keypad is nice to use and user friendly, and there is a high amount of customisation around component configuration, volume levels, exit and entry delays, etc. I enjoy using the device. However my main qualm as commented by others are the paywalls and monitoring services. I completely understand the need to pay for active monitoring and the company’s efforts to place ‘premium’ features under subscription as a revenue model. However, as others have commented, the inclusion of push notifications in this category is, in my view, a step too far. The alarm is of very little practical use if you cannot be aware it is going off without a subscription, and is very much behind the times for following this model. This is very much a conscious design decision - although the system has cellular connection, you are prompted to connect to a WiFi network, so there is no good reason a simple push notification couldn’t be sent on activation. Given I live in a fairly secure apartment block, my actual security risk is quite low, but I would be more concerned about false activations that I am not aware of and therefore go on to disturb my neighbours for several hours. I’m therefore effectively forced to pay a subscription. If I could I would return the alarm for the likes of Ring or similar, but unfortunately I bought it a while before moving in during a sale so will be well out with the 60 day period. I may look to sell it and buy a different unit in the new year, which is a shame because - as I say, it’s really good - but paying ~£240 a year to receive push notifications is not viable in the long term.
