Was super excited
Out of the box, set up was easy enough. It is sturdy and high quality construction. But there was an issue with double images. It's looking like it will need collimation. Worse still, I've contacted the company and have not heard back from them in over a month. So right now I have a nice looking but expensive paper weight sitting on the desk, unless I close one eye, which defeats the purpose of getting a binocular microscope.

Not impressed at all
Two weeks in and the light will not come on. Changed fuse still nothing.....Not impressed at all If the LED has blown, then that's sad because one would expect a microscope hailed as research grade to last a bit longer than a fortnight. Edited : On the 3rd of march 2025. Still waiting from a response from Swift UK? They seem to not want to contact their customer base. This is a very bad way to conduct a business. I now have to consider going with a different microscope manufacturer. Swift have had a good chunk of my bank balance, but not any more. Folks forget swift and go elsewhere. EDIT 2: Purchased a new LED still nothing, so the transformer has gone. What a hunk of junk.

Great Microscope
Science is a hobby for me, and this microscope is just the thing for looking at all things natural. I usually wear glasses, but the eyepiece adjustment is enough that I don't need them to see the subject. At lower magnifications the subject is extremely sharp, but the higher the mag, the less sharp it gets, but still able to recognise cells/parasites etc. The adjustment RL/Up Down are very smooth, however the main focus was a bit jerky to start with, and needed a few turns to loosen it up a bit. Now it's perfect, and the micro adjustment is too. It has an inbuilt light with a power lead. Ideal bit of kit for me.

A great upgrade for an amateur hobbyist!
I was unsure if microscopy was for me, but I was interested so I started out with the super cheap Carson Microbrite and the Carson Microflip pocket microscopes. And once I saw those little microorganisms under those pocket microscopes I was sold and I knew that I wanted to see more. I did quite a bit of research and what I knew was that I wanted a good quality microscope, but also not to break the bank. I find this microscope, as an amateur newly beginning hobbyist, to be so easy to use, super high-quality, and really fun! This microscope is definitely an upgrade from any supercheap microscope that you could get, so I would recommend this scope to someone who wants a nicer microscopy experience from a more rudimentary start. The biggest pros for me are the mechanical stage (farewell, moving slides with my hand), the high-quality optics, and the variety of light settings that you get (brightness, aperture, filter holder). What you see in some of this footage is called Dark field microscopy. I did this by taking a clear piece of plastic that cut to the size of the filter and then cut a piece of electrical tape into a slightly smaller than a dime size circle and stuck it in the center of the clear plastic. This works surprisingly well, and it elevates the scope even more, it would be great if Swift would include one of these filters with this scope. I was unsure when buying the scope how big it was going to be. Everywhere that I looked there was no clear mention of the dimensions of any of Swift’s microscopes. I think that that information is important because in my case scenario, I am having this microscope live on a shelf in my office. So here are the dimensions for the microscope. Depending on what eye piece is in or if there’s no eye piece in it, it is around 13 to 15 inches tall. The base of the scope is 9.5 inches long. The total length of the scope depends on where you have the eyepieces pointing, it’s a little hard to measure, but the longest measurement is around 13 inches long. The width is also a little hard to measure, but it’s about 8 inches. And just in case you were concerned on if the scope is too heavy for shelf to desk portability I think it is quite easy to carry with two hands. Overall, I think this scope is excellent and I think it is everything that I need for being an amateur hobbyist, I am so excited to continue exploring the microcosmos, and I am grateful that instruments like this exist to help everyday people enjoy the beauty of this world!

Works as a toy, not for professionals
The microscope offers a good view at 100x total mag, but at 400x, the condenser is not cutting it. Everything is a bit blurry, and i cannot focus correctly. The 40x objective has some kind of dirt in 5 places which sucks

ottime condizioni
