It would still print just fine but if I wanted to send a scan to my computer I had to scan it to "the cloud" or scan it to an SD card, and then transfer it to the computer. I tried everything I could think of, including reinstalling and updating all of the software.I certainly didn't want to buy another printer just for this so I went shopping for a USB cable. When I plugged this one in it did its little installation dance and the problem was solved.
