Fast, compact, and super convenie
I like how small and lightweight it is—it’s easy to carry around without even noticing it. The build quality feels solid too, not cheap at all. Setup was simple, just plug and play, and it works perfectly with my devices. Definitely a good buy if you need extra storage that’s quick and reliable

• Use with the SONOS Music app as a Network Attached Storage (NAS) Device
Storage Capacity, Interface, and Size Solid State Drives (SSD) are a welcome alternative to older, non-SSD hard drives. This Western Digital (WD) drive, in particular, has features that make it an attractive choice for anyone needing a high capacity USB drive with relatively fast read (1050MB/s) and write (1000MB/s) data transfer rates. The drive is available in four capacities (500GB, 1TB, 2TB, & 4TB) and designed with a native USB-C interface (USB 3.2, Gen-2), and it is supplied with an adapter that allows cross connectivity to legacy USB-A interfaces. These drives are larger than any thumb-size drives, but are smaller when compared to a WD My Passport Ultra Portable Hard Drive (see photo). An important consideration beyond size is the fact that SSD drives will be more durable to accidental drops/impacts that could easily corrupt data on non-SSD hard drives. No Excessive Heat Thumb-size (stick) flash drives are criticized for generating heat during read/write processes, but I did not notice a substantial problem when using this drive for everyday data transfers. Some warmth is noted when writing multi-gigabyte files but unnoticeable during read processes. Some heat release is to be expected, but it was not comparable to the higher temperature levels produced by thumb drives. As an added feature, this drive can remain attached at all times to a computer or wireless router without software forcing the drive into a “sleep” mode when not in use. Colors These drives are available in five colors, but not all colors are available in all storage capacities. If used for backup data storage, then color coding facilitates the backup rotation process, e.g., red, silver, and blue. Music Storage for a SONOS Wireless Music System I use this SSD to store iTunes/Music music files for playback using a SONOS app. After connection to a USB-supporting router, the music library stored on the drive was indexed, and the drive served as a NAS device to allow music playback to every room in the house that has a SONOS speaker. Music playback was responsive and done without unusual delays. As a general note, music playback was operated using SONOS apps on either iPad or Mac systems at various locations within the house. The convenience and performance of this SSD made it an attractive alternative in comparison with “noisy,” mechanical hard drives. Moreover, when portability is necessary, this SSD packs easily for trips to other locations where other SONOS systems are present. Drive capacity choice will depend on music storage needs. I use 2TB drives because these easily store hundreds of music files with substantial room leftover for future music additions. The USB 3.x read transfer rate (estimated at 1050MB/s) eliminated the playback “jitter” that was experienced in the past when using non-SSD, WD drives. Although for comparison accuracy, it should be noted that general data transfers and music playback reliability will be affected by a variety of variables unrelated to the drive itself–notably, all other facets of the wireless network and the physical environment where WiFi data are transmitted.

It works perfectly but I found a glitch
Is really compact, light and small so if perfect to carry anywhere. The files download and upload soooo fast, I think is a great purchase. The only thing that I saw and after investigating further with other customers, is that when you get the SSD and you connect it, there is like an app you need to install, there is no such info on the manual or anything but is there lol waiting to be downloaded. And the app just doesn’t work, seems there is an issue and everyone gets it until 18% and then stops, if you try to re-install the app, there will be an error. Hopefully this doesn’t affect the performance of the SSD so I’m cool with that, just a little confusing Edit: after using the SSD for a few weeks I’m soooo happy with the results overall, I need to say that I downloaded GTA V and I play it while the file is in there and the game works perfectly, so yes, I hope my review works for you guys, is a really good product tbh :)

Fantastic Little SSD!
Before I begin this review, let me take the time to note that if you're ordering flash drives, SD cards or SSDs online, be sure to run a capacity test on the drive you receive. Many drives for sale are counterfit drives that lie about their capacity. There's a handy little Windows tool called H2TestW. This drive arrived very quickly and was well packaged. I'm still shocked just how tiny this thing is; I know NVME drives (which this is interally) are small, but this is still shocking, it's around 1.5 inches wide, a few inches tall and super thin. The casing feels ridgid and sterdy with no flexing at all. It comes with a very short but still great quallity USB-C cable and a USB-A adapter. Straight away my PC recognized the drive with no issues. Western Digital included some encryption software for Windows and Mac on the drive, but sense I'm not storing anything sensative on here I just removed it. A test with H2TestW confirmed the drive is legitimate and is the advertised capacity. The read and write speeds were insainely fast and responsive, way faster than my mechanical USB hard disk. TLDR: Very compact and fast drive great for any usecase. I've always loved Western Digitals products, and this is yet another one.

Easy way to store lots of big files.
I store a lot of photo and video work that would fill up my computer quickly. I buy one of these every year and write the year on it to keep things organized. I also have it set to hold the temp files while editing 4k videos (which can take up a lot of space quickly) and the data transfer rate is able to keep up. Easy to manage and so far I've never had any get corrupted or fail.

Fault Western Digital External SSD (Made by SanDisk)
The External Solid State Drive was absolute trash after moving files to the to drive it had issues moving them off to the PC requiring me to always use a USB card instead when moving files around. I did some checking to see what the issue was at first by right-clicking on the drive and going through the Properties to use the error-checking function, but nothing bad was displayed. I then tried to format the SSD from exFAT to NTFS to see if that would resolve the issue (spoiler it did not). I then opened up Command Prompt Run as Admin and typed in "wmic diskdrive get status" it said it was OK so my next step was to try typing in "chkdsk E: /f /r" it showed an estimated time of 55:00 minutes, but ended up taking 9 or 12 hours because it had an issue at Stage 5 where it froze at so I opened Task Manager to see if it was doing anything it showed a full Green Block that it was 100% Active, but it wasn't Reading or Writing to the Drive. Hours later the scan finally completed and said their were Errors and Bad Sectors on the External SSD so I called up Western Digital about this problem and was shocked that I was told by the Tech Support that I had to call SanDisk Tech Support because they don't make External or Internal SSDs even though their Brand and Logo is all over this External SSD. I have bought some SanDisk products and all of them I had to bring back to the seller to get a refund or cashback since they burnt out and had Errors right out of the Box so I don't know why a company would put their Logo and Brand on (in my opinion) a faulty Product that's not made by them and that they don't even support.
