They allow ur child to explore and create on their own and or follow directions to create cool creations. These blocks can help children with fine motor skills and engineering. She loved using the "power toys". This is a perfect addition to our collection of building materials. It is great quality and a great value. I would buy again and recommend to others.I teach 4th grade and I believe that they would love these too. I think as far as ages go I would say 3-10 would be the target age group, but oh course I loved playing with them as well so it also depends on the person and their interests. My two year old "played " with them but was really unable to build anything. She’s too young to be able to follow the steps to putting together the various things in the idea book, but she can make her own things up and it really holds her attention!I am not mechanical but I can follow the steps, so we often work on building it together. I will assemble and have her tighten all the screws with her drill while I hold it. She feels so proud of herself! A great toy for grandparents to play with grandchildren. (Some pieces are small so it might be more difficult for someone with advanced arthritis.) A great set for her to grow into. We have 2 other such sets with bigger pieces but this is the set she always chooses. Highly recommend!
